Are you able to get free apps just like the iPhone when it's jailbroken?

RESN 07-06-2012 11:10 AM

you can download apps directly off google, there is no jailbreak on android. its comes down to whether you want to pay for the app or not and keep getting updates on the regular

Getting the S3 from Rogers on monday :) only thing I'm concerned with is the built quality and dropping the damn thing. Can anyone recommend some good sleak cases from metro?

Razor Ramon HG 07-06-2012 12:58 PM

The official Samsung slim cases are nice. They cover part of the edge bezel too.

I recommend them for those getting the white S3.

Wireless Wave has them.

terkan 07-06-2012 03:36 PM

they are ok, but they are really really thin and doesn't really provide any drop protection. it'll protect your backplate from scratching that's about it.. i grabbed a few of those from my rep and i don't use it. just go get an otterbox if you are worried about dropping. but as for screen protectors get a wet application one. the zagg ain't bad, i got an ishieldz on mine and it looks great.

if you want to download apps just search on google for the apk and load it on to ur phone and install. don't really need to jailbreak it.

Simplex123 07-06-2012 07:20 PM

What's the difference between cheap and expensive screen protectors..? I just get $3 ones from Bill at Odlin and put it on myself.

PornMaster 07-06-2012 07:50 PM

This is why you paranoid mofos do NOT need a screen protector

Battery lasted for 12 hours using it all day today.

downloading apps, video streaming etc.

this was all on 4g network gonna pump it to lte see how long it lasts

3klipze 07-06-2012 08:17 PM

For those who are new to android. This is a pretty neat trick.

Spoiler!

the point of a screen protector is to prevent the phone from scratching, not preventing it from breaking. the phone screen is "scratch resistant" it's not scratch proof. so how does a screen protector have anything to do with how tough the screen is?

twitchyzero 07-06-2012 09:48 PM

curious question to the ex-galaxy nexus owners..do they still have quality issues with the SAMOLED screen on this phone? If so the LTE version or Tegra 3?

Tim Budong 07-06-2012 10:46 PM

GORILLA GLASS IS SCRATCH PROOF

StylinRed 07-07-2012 11:04 AM

Samsung said the only way they could replicate the damage was to stick it in the microwave

and the original owner with the issue came out and said his buddy stuck it in the microwave to dry it out for him

I hate how Rogers is only selling the dual core version :(

sonick 07-07-2012 05:04 PM

At this point seeing the speed difference between LTE and non-LTE; as well as the benchmarks between dual and quad core, I'd say LTE is more beneficial than the quad core.

Razor Ramon HG 07-07-2012 05:30 PM

Depends what you value more. For me, I personally rather have more battery life than a faster connection seeing as HSPA is already fast enough.

PornMaster 07-07-2012 06:52 PM

I just priced matched SanDisk 32gb for 30 with shop bot. The SanDisk class 6 is a lot faster than most budget class 10

ime2006 07-07-2012 06:53 PM

Finally got mine ~~~

Now, its rooted, CWM Recovery Installed....

Battery is quite impressive on my lte network.
