3klipze 07-26-2012 11:18 PM

mine took 2.5 weeks(from order date to arrival). Not sure why it was so long

Razgriz 07-26-2012 11:21 PM

I got a case from Diztronic if anyone wants it for $5 (cost me about $12.50)

Didn't come in time and I got another one; but its a pretty nice case, a nice matte blue, comes with screen protector too.

Exact one here Diztronic Matte Back Dark Blue Case & SP for Samsung Galaxy S3 - $9.90 : DIZTRONIC.COM, - TPU Cases for Android Phones

Just coz I'm paranoid due to my last phone getting a crapload of dust under the screen, anybody know anywhere locally I can get a headphone dust cap/plug?

e.g.: Earphone Jack Anti-Dust Kit + SIM Card Tray Extraction for iPhone 3G/3GS - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

How's the selection of S3 cases at the night market? I know they have a ton of places there but is it all for iPhone?

ddalbowang 07-27-2012 12:19 PM

just got a SGS3 a few days ago,

but, battery seems having some problems

i take mine off charge n a minute later 1 percent has gone

after a few min of usage, another 1 gone... gone gone

after like 30% gone ... it became normal ....

is it normal ? should I claim a warranty ??

ShadowBun 07-27-2012 12:39 PM

^ cycle charge it once or twice and see if its still like that

PornMaster 07-27-2012 12:52 PM

it could be just regular draining. A lot of open apps and lte on

ddalbowang 07-27-2012 12:53 PM

do I have to discharge fully b4 charging? or do charge like 20% left ??

ddalbowang 07-27-2012 12:59 PM

mine doens have a LTE

i turned off GPS and checked saving mode on

auto display mode... :(

geeknerd 07-27-2012 03:42 PM

dont know how battery % works but
if the phone is ON,
the very second the charger is unplugged wouldnt it be 99.9999999%? so im guessing instantly going 100%-->99% should be correct?

i dont really expect any long time battery with this.
My sgs2 drained about 10% per hour of mp3 play.
With LTE and screen usage, i would expect it to drain faster?
I just ordered an extra battery off ebay. (too bad its not like korea where all phones come with a second battery)

along with full body invisible shield and a generic hard rubber case.

anyone else use zagg shield? there would be times id want to carry it without the case and i guess zagg full body shield offers that lil bit more protection when i need it.

anyone have experience with the HD screen protector?

Levitron 07-27-2012 04:24 PM

Any of you on a custom ROM yet?

Any recommendations?

Blah_Teggie 07-27-2012 05:55 PM

I had this phone for 4 days before returning it. I had the same problems like a lot of you here. The battery life on it sucks. The last night I had the S3, my iphone and the s3 were both at 100% battery life and I unplugged them at the same time. When I woke up in the morning, iphone 100%, s3 91% and the s3 had nothing in it. I had deleted everything off that phone. Good thing I never cancelled Fido.

I'm guessing you have the international version? If so your not alone, a lot of users are experiencing battery problems and it is most likely a cell stanby issue

read more: Samsung Galaxy S III Owners Reporting Battery Drain Issues

Also people take a look at this video, i know its the international version but he offers tips that will help both versions out

BrRsn 07-27-2012 06:50 PM

I actually get surprisingly good battery life on my S3.

What OS is everyone running?

Ch28 07-27-2012 07:56 PM

That video is absolutely horrible.

All the things he does is basically common sense if you've ever played around with your phone.

Simplex123 07-27-2012 08:07 PM

Mhmm.. I'm on JB and I got owned by cell standby today. It just didn't go into deep sleep and my battery drained super quickly. Although it doesn't happen everyday though, how are you supposed to deal with it? Close apps and restart?

PornMaster 07-27-2012 08:32 PM

I rooted my phone and did the cell standby fix. Look back pages I posted what to do.

Before I did it lte raped the battery even though it was just a code error. The phone thinks it's using more than it should.

Now I am running lte all day and other ly uses 5% standby

Ch28 07-27-2012 08:35 PM

Be careful with rooting the S3

Users report that they had their IMEI number wiped during the process. Wiped IMEI # = toasted phone.

PornMaster 07-27-2012 08:46 PM

the method I used doesn't touch core software. And can be reverted with update

Which method did you use?

Been looking at using the "no trip flash counter" method but some people reported zero'd out IMEIs :heckno:

Simplex123 07-27-2012 10:13 PM

I used the method provided by ZedoMax (Man I love this guy. Too bad his YouTube account got flagged..)
[HOW TO] Easiest Root and Recovery: SGS3 LTE Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers - xda-developers
How to Root U.S. and Canada Galaxy S3 SGH-T999/SGH-I747/SPH-L710! [Fail-Proof][Noob-Proof][U.S. Cellular] | GalaxyS3Root.com

This way is pretty safe and shouldn't screw up your phone.
Quote:

More on this Root Method
This root method simply installs ClockworkMod Recovery to the recovery partition and installs Superuser zip file, very safe to do. With Galaxy S2, recovery partition was part of the kernel and was a bit dangerous but with Galaxy S3, Samsung has made recovery parition separate from the kernel, making it much safer just like how Galaxy Nexus works.

Yeah im having standby battery problems... i fully charged it last night while sleeping, woke up at 2 am to see thr green light, so i unplugged.
At 10am i woke up and its down to 22% o___o...

Rebooted my phone and now charging it again, hope it doesnt happen again

EDIT: well, rebooting seemed to fix that problem. the battery power seems healthy now!

weird thing is, you guys know how as soon as you unplug it from charging, it shows as 99% right?. so an hour later, i checked my unplugged phone, and it went from 99% up to 100%. o____o!! not really complaining since i got more power LOL but confusing xD

That method trips the flash counter and generally isn't recommended in case you need to do any warranty work.

It also caused some users to have their IMEI's wiped out as well
