got a firmware update prompt today... Didnt have wifi.. Presume fw update is android?

zonda_s 09-04-2012 06:44 PM

^ i'm assuming that you have your phone set to download updates only through wifi?

if so, it's probably just a push notification. i'm sure if you choose to install it while not connected to a wifi network, it won't download.

I was just going to ask if anyone got the notification. What provider are you on? I'm on Rogers but still no notification for OTA. Apparently you can just do it through Kies but I'm not that desperate.

From what I understand the LH1 update is NOT JB (i.e. 4.1). It's an incremental update to the modem (apparently people were having issues with the one modem released to all the Canadian phones) among other things. We do get one JB function at least- yay brightness slider in notification pane! :fullofwin:

Update is available to some OTA, or you can download it through Samsung Kies

For Microsoft Exchange Server you need to click Add Account and Select Corporate. Then enter all the appropriate server, password, email etc..
If that's what you are asking

Tim Budong 09-07-2012 08:21 PM

My initial response
Smooth, could be smoother
They hide Google Now, can be accessed by holding the home button and hitting the "g"
double click the home button still brings up SVoice
aside from that, some new widgets and the look is a bit different.

The notification drop down is ugly with the toggles

Are you talking LH1? or the JB leak for Bell that everyone's hot for?

sonick 09-08-2012 09:19 AM

Google Now = JB

The lh1 ota update is pretty awesome getting like double the battery life. Cell standby would destroy my battery life before.

mr_chin 09-08-2012 05:13 PM

where is the video call option?

trd2343 09-09-2012 03:33 AM

I'm picking up a S3 from Bell tomorrow and pretty excited about it. Is there anything (issues) I should look out for when I'm picking up the phone tomorrow?

The only issue is if you're using LTE, don't expect more than a day of battery life. Also, the screen and the Sun are not very good friends, so either leave auto-brightness on or be prepared to change it before you head out the door on a sunny day. Otherwise, great phone.

No official word, but given the leak was released Sept 6. it'll be much sooner than I (or most people probably) anticipated. I'd give it a month.
