^^^Now stick a foreign SIM and enter the unlock code and you got it for free lol.

The only way I got my unlock code to work was sticking in another SIM.

^ It's the only way to prompt the unlock code entry box on a bone-stock i747 s3 (i.e. the NA variants)

I used Cellunlock like m3thods, it was about $8 with 50% off to get the code.

BigTrollFace 09-19-2012 05:00 PM

Yup, you're correct.

Btw, I'm on Fido and I can't active LTE on my S3, do I need to get a LTE sim card from Fido?

hongy 09-24-2012 12:31 AM

Yes you do.

Same, I asked someone at wireless wave when I picked up my iphone 5 and the guy had no clue. Fido does show a LTE sim on their site, let me know if you find one locally. I think you need to trim the sim for it to fit in the s3 as well.

Armind 09-24-2012 08:55 AM

So tempted to get an s3 to take advantage of the LTE network. :considered:

I got an LTE sim from the Oakridge Fido booth, the one near Coach. The wireless wave at Oakridge doesnt have fido lte sims yet either.

Just a tip, if you can log into fido.ca to check your account, theres a link there to change your sim card too. if you call customer service, or do it at the fido booth, they charge you money. its free to do it yourself online.

I heard that Fido only has LTE sim in Standard or Nano. They don't carry any LTE phones that use the microsim. Since they don't have an S3 in their product line it wouldn't make sense to have an LTE microsim. Either trim an standard sim to micro or get a nano to micro adapter.

I can confirm this, the same Oakridge booth told me they do not have micro lte sims. Only regular.

This was before the ip5 came out, so I guess now they have nano too.

Fafine 09-24-2012 12:50 PM

yeah I went to that Oakridge kiosk and the girl there told me they don't have lte Sims at all.
I called in and they said they can send one to me but I would need to cut it down to a micro

Do it. So amazing! :ahwow:

Harvey Specter 09-24-2012 01:44 PM

Thanks guys, I'm going to order the LTE card from Fido.ca if I can't find one local and I assume cutting the sim isn't that hard? I remember doing it back in the days for the original iPhone.

Simplex123 09-24-2012 02:05 PM

I think some cellphone shops may have micro sim stamper/cutter.

BigTrollFace 09-24-2012 02:25 PM

almost all stores have it, futureshop bestbuy does as well

takes 1 second to do

Simplex123 09-24-2012 04:00 PM

You should also keep the part you cut off in case you want to use a phone that uses a regular sim.
You just have to shave off the inner edges of the cut off plastic so the micro sim fits easily inside.

Doubl3_H 09-24-2012 08:27 PM

what kind of cases do everybody use?

thinking between the otter defender or the ballistic maxx.

Need something with a holster, can't have it in my pocket.
