Weird, Android System is never that high for me unless I have some bad app running in the background I forgot to close. On Telus, as of now my Android System is 3% on 9h1m usage.

As for the update, check details here Samsung Galaxy S III gets minor OS update, brings improved stability | MobileSyrup.com

Hey guys , a while ago I posted a coupon on getting a samsung flip case and a samsung dock charger for a discounted price.

After about 2 weeks of owning both, I don't use them as much to keep it. So im selling both for 50 bucks. The flip case is pebble blue

If anyone is interested, pm meeeee.

Was checking another site and found out that telus is selling refurbished galaxy s3s for only $349!! (plus taxes). Just picked up a white one. I doubt it'll go any lower than that price point

are there anyway to unlock the samsung galaxy s3 from telus?

sonick 10-23-2012 07:42 AM

Any online service should work, or if you wanna be safe, unlock from Telus is only $35.

My phone is updated but the cell standby is still quite high. I've only unplugged it for 1 hour & 15 mins and android system is 45% and cell standby is 24% already :(

Is rooting fairly simple to do? I read through the instructions but am a bit worried I'll mess up..

Cellunlock.com and cellunlocker.net websites work for sure. I used prior and some in this thread used latter. $8-20

If you browse XDA you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Of course it's at your own risk, but it's pretty dummy-proof.

Note that since the phone has only been off the charger for an hour, your values will be inflated. Take percentages closer to 0 battery to get a better picture of what your phone is doing.

What's your battery life at? If you've been using your phone during that 1h15m, it's normal if your Android system is that high. Let it go on standby for the day and see how it goes.

What he said.

Expresso 10-23-2012 09:10 AM

I would also post up your Screen Time stats cause that just kills the battery. or Maybe considering buy that guys dock if it includes a spare battery.

My stats on stock rom are 83% at 2 hours with LTE On, Screen at Auto, and No power saving. Cell Standby is 32%, Screen is 27% (22minutes), and Android System at 10%.

Maybe you have some crazy app running in the background? Cause my Android System Stats are usually pretty low.

The OTA update hasn't done much for me, might be some app I installed though.

This article states that cell standby is just miscalculated and actuality it just doesn't use that much battery.

Not at the moment. From what I've read, prospects look dire (unlike the SGS1/2), but never count out XDA developers.

If you're in no rush just wait, otherwise if you need it unlocked now you have to get the code online or from your carrier.

Psykopathik 10-23-2012 10:30 AM

unlocks are like $10 on eBay right?

lol found some for like $4

but you have to wait for snail mail.

Thanks for the replies guys! I've wiped out pretty much all my apps now, LTE is turned off, gps is off, power saving on. Phone is currently at 37%.. android system is at 56% and cell standby is now at 15%. Rogers told me to reinstall the OS and see if that helps.. or to find another person with the same battery to see if that's the case. I'll try to reinstall the OS tonight and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for all the input! :)

sonick 10-23-2012 02:35 PM

Oh yeah, do you use Live Wallpapers? I heard those drain battery too.

Gh0stRider 10-23-2012 03:15 PM

i ordered one before the deal expired. hopefully it went through
