I want this phone just for the pop-up play feature.

I'd be cool if a phone came out with a feature to push this "true multitasking" even further by allowing you to split the screen in half and have 2 apps running at the same time.

But can u have 2 apps on the screen at the same time? Saw a video. U still have to switch between them.

yeah in a sense ;) when you look at the multitasking menu all the apps are running live instead of just thumbnails of the apps :D

thats fr maemo (well the N9)

for symbian you can but its extremely limited functionality that it isn't really what you're suggesting ;)

terkan 05-03-2012 05:55 PM

lol fancy version of the galaxy nexus.. no wonder nexus is discontinued already for bell

ya oh well. the pop-up play is good enough for now. I lay in bed and watch videos a lot and it'd be nice to be able to reply to msgs without leaving the video.

You can have that feature on any android tablet/smartphone. It's called Stick it! (for videos) and OverSkreen (for windowed web browser). Been out for months and seems like Samsung just took a page out of that.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....stickit&hl=en

Also, true multitasking is coming soon once comapnies decided to cook it in their roms

DanHibiki 05-03-2012 08:20 PM

Ya I saw stick it but it's always nicer when it's officially incorporated into the OS. Hopefully now that Samsung has done just that, apple will follow and do the same.

That cornerstone thing is exactly what I want on a phone. I'm surprised it's not standard on tablets since they call tablets post-pc yet is modding one of pc's biggest advantage.

jeff19 05-03-2012 08:25 PM

yah cornertone's been active for over a year now and there's still no sign of it in any devices out of the box. Im sure there are alot of licensing and software obstacles that come with incorporating sth like this in the entire OS.

busy following the gtx 690 graphics card review and didn't see the specs until now

The exynos quad-core and large battery is great, Gorilla Glass 2 is a plus...also interested to see all the new software features it packs

but seriously..that physical button is begging to be killed off! Canada is very likely to get the butchered dual-core version again...but that probably means better battery life.

Either way, I can say I'm happy i went with the nexus and it should stay relevant until the end of the year!

Edit any news of the announced software gimmicks being updated to native Android OS? I'm a sucker for those gimmicks!

Not necessarily. The Exynos quad uses 20% less power than the Exynos dual. If I get this phone it will be the international version.

LOL. It's still a big IF and what happens when it comes to North America. I'm still happy with my Galaxy Nexus.

A$AProcky 05-04-2012 12:21 PM

I like it it looks way more sleek imo.

DanHibiki 05-04-2012 07:34 PM

The Pop-up Play feature only works with the stock video player. Doesn't work with youtube or any other video apps. Meh, so much for that. Was the biggest feature I wanted.

krazynuck 05-04-2012 09:36 PM

I told myself "nono I don't and won't buy the SGSIII even after owning the SI and SII"....but know I am compelled to buy

not as nice as I thought though but I still think I have to purchase this phone

I forgot where I read but it seems a summer release in Canada is what has been hinted...
