^ probably because a lot of people are trying to update now that word's gotten out. rogers' servers might be at capacity.

before word got out, i did the same thing you did to check for updates, but i got the update immediately.

if you have your computer nearby, try to update using samsung kies. you may be able to get the update faster through there.

even though i downloaded the update package over the air, i still did my update through kies since i wanted to back up my settings/data first. seeing as how jellybean's a major update, i was a bit worrried that it would do a clean wipe. however, the update didn't wipe any data/settings which was good.

@chin: i think one of my friends did the update OTA. to my understanding his data wasn't wiped. but if you want to be on the cautious side, feel free to back up.

sonick 12-02-2012 06:38 PM

yeah it was busy ota so I downloaded it via kies

How do I download Jellybean? I didn't get a notice on my phone for any updates. I went to settings -> about device -> software update -> update, I keep getting this message popping up. "Access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try later"

Anyone else with a Rogers S3 getting this? How do I get this official version of Jellybean on my Rogers S3 guys? Am i supposed to wait until my phone notifies me?

Thanks in advance.

Just wait mang, the update isn't going to blow your mind and waiting a day or 2 isn't going to make any difference.

All your data is preserved but you should be backing up stuff as precautionary.

To unlock your Galaxy S3 OR NOTE 2:

Seems to have worked after jellybean update. Confirmed on my roger S3. I put in my friend's bell sim and got LTE service as well.

how are your guys opinions on the new jellybean update?
imo i guess its more smoother but then again there would be some lags like in the texting,
but overall i guess its better than the gingerbread version

the new google talk is extremely precise at word recognition LOL
I'm personally astounded because every other word recognition app, I would have to repeat myself to let it understand what I said correctly.

ICS, not Gingerbread.

I like Jellybean for Google Now.
Also just noticed the newer graphics for the alarm which is a nice enhancement.

I like it the jelly bean update so far. Pretty smooth with a few new features and menu change. Overall I'm pretty happy.

But I wished they included the split screen feature on the official JB update like on the Galaxy Note 2...

I'm getting more lag using Nova compared to ICS, otherwise everything else is zippy. I like some of the options they pulled from deep within the menu and onto the main settings page.

I wish they kept the top bar black though :okay:

Armind 12-03-2012 01:51 AM

Did the unlocking steps and got SHA256_OFF => Not Change

Also couldn't get to the final step [4], there was no options for that.

*nvm* thought the update I got after reflashing to stock was JB.

3klipze 12-03-2012 01:52 AM

I didn't have that [4] option when i was on ICS. After updating to JB OTA, i got the option [4] after waiting about 30 seconds.

This is for Rogers S3 LTE

Armind 12-03-2012 02:15 AM

I have the Rogers LTE one too, no OTA yet..

KrAyZiE TRD 12-03-2012 07:02 AM

On the last step when you select option 4 and it displays sha256 off==>???
To reboot do you just hold the power button and select reset?
Not too sure if I did it right or if anything happened...
Is there way besides inserting another sim to see if I did it right? Posted via RS Mobile

gars 12-03-2012 08:40 AM

I'm running the leaked version of JB. Does anybody know if I need to downgrade back to ICS before getting this update? I go to the update page and it still says I'm running the most up to date version of the firmware.

sonick 12-03-2012 09:41 AM

lol so when I upgraded my phone, looks like telus forgot to renew my contract, so I got my phone at a discounted price but without the 3 year contract. :derp:

Thinking if I should sign a 3 year, get an iPhone and re-sell or just live with my cheap S3 and no contract.

:considered:

If you find a plan you like at another provider, or like your current plan and don't mind renewing, I don't see a problem with getting a bit of extra cash in your pocket from selling an iPhone.

TypeRNammer 12-03-2012 10:38 AM

After the jelly bean update, the stock email app app reads the full email now without having to click "load more"

:awwyeah:

EDIT: I think :okay:

3klipze 12-03-2012 10:49 AM

Is anyone having a weird flickering issue when scrolling down a long email in 'email' app? –JB update.

sonick 12-03-2012 12:08 PM

Hmm, I haven't been able to connect to LTE since the JB update, not sure if coz its a weak signal. I am on LTE/WCDMA/GSM Auto Mode

roastpuff 12-03-2012 02:03 PM

No OTA for me yet - it keeps giving me that error message. Kies also starts locking up when I try to do the update on it - and now it doesn't even detect that there is an update. WTF?
