Anyone's batt life draining way faster than normal after the update?

Nvasion 01-08-2014 11:07 AM

my phone just randomly resets like 20 times in a row. does that a few times a day.

m3thods 01-08-2014 01:02 PM

^I got that with a bad phone flash. If you're on stock, try reverting to factory settings again (if you haven't done that already). A reflash fixed that issue for me.

whats good rom for android 4.4 ,

tired of 4.3 update.

Szeto 01-08-2014 05:12 PM

4.3 has been pretty good, my battery life has improved and i actually don't suffer dropped calls

krazynuck 01-14-2014 07:54 PM

Ok so I got a new S3 after my last one had a fatal accident...

The S3 I just got was originally from Bell. I am using my Fido LTE sim however I can't seem to get LTE on it now. I can only get HSPA+ where as my old Telus S3 gave me LTE with the same Fido sim...The APN is correct anyone have any answers on how to get LTE on this?

So far not liking 4.3, it seems sluggish.

so today i reset the phone. wiped everything.. seems to be better..faster

After the recent the update, not only did my battery drained faster than usual but I also found it very laggy. I had no choice in doing a factory reset, this time around I'd make sure I backup everything first before hitting the confirm button.

I also got myself a mophie case which I highly recommend for those that are hardcore users who dont mind the bulkiness it adds on the phone.

Any suggestions as to where I can go for a new battery? Not very fond of getting this online, as I don't want to get counterfeit junk branded "OEM".

I got mine from ebay because I was able to find an oem one for 10 dollars shipped. it did take 3 weeks to come but it was cheap.

sonick 02-16-2014 09:47 AM

Amazon.ca

If you are planning to use it a bit longer, I got my replacement batteries from Anker which are a bit higher capacity than OEM even though it's the same form factor, and are still good quality according to reviews.

I got zerolemon from amazon came with two batts and an external charger for 20 bucks. Good reviews and solid price.

thinking about finally rooting my phone..

whats the newest/most stable/best ROM out right now?

m3thods 03-05-2014 10:06 PM

I've been on SlimBean since getting it Sept. 2012. No complaints.

SlimKat I think is still in beta so I haven't upgraded yet. Will soon though even if they're still in beta.

Rooted stock is pretty rock solid too. Gives you permissions to remove any bloat while keeping the phone as stock as possible.

Where can I buy a replacement battery and wall charger for the battery?

Friend's USB port is busted.

NCIX doesn't stock the MOMAX ones anymore.

The Anker two battery and wall charger kit from amazon is legit, that's what I run now.

anyone know where I can unlock my S3 for cheap? Unfortunately I didn't unlock it for free before I updated it and I don't want to screw anything up by downgrading and unlocking

How cheap? You can buy unlock codes for <$20 at the usual places (cellunlock etc). If you look hard enough, you can find whatever coupon code of the month certain forums offer. I found a 50% coupon code back in the day (it was off a Blackberry forum, iirc).

That said, there are a ton of tutorials given the phone's age on how to downgrade. It's really just rooting and using Odin to apply an image. There are important steps to follow, but if you watch enough videos doing the task once will be enough for you to get it.

Thanks for the info, cellunlock seems to be $30 to unlock. I'm just looking to get it for about $10-$15 since I'm using it as a backup phone. Will check craigslist as well.

m3thods 03-10-2014 02:59 PM

^Here's a 50% coupon after 2 seconds of searching:

CrackBerry.com Promotion

Locally will likely be close to $10-15 if you're past the "free" TouchWiz version.

fyi you don't need to unlock if the phone is from Fido to/or Rogers.

just pop a sim card in and see if it works before you unlock

don't know if they change that or not but thats how it was.

I have read that if the S3 is already upgraded to 4.3, you CANNOT downgrade. If you try to use Odin to flash an older firmware, it will brick you phone. I read this on xda-developers. I've never tried though so I cannot comment on the legitimacy of that claim.

m3thods 03-10-2014 11:21 PM

Looks like you're right. Shitty deal:

RE: Downgrade Galaxy S3 I747 from 4.3(knox) to 4.1.2??? - xda-developers
