I glance over this thread every once in a while to find a good card to apply for but theres so much choice and I don't understand a lot of the terms. I'll post my usage and maybe recommend me something?  I already have a VISA so I don't think I should apply for another VISA, is this correct?
My usage:
Fuel
Entertainment
Food
Actually I pretty much use my card for everything and only use my debit when my cc is almost maxed out and I pay my bills in full on time. I never really let it fully max out though, I leave a few hundred buffer.
I don't really fly that often.
I would pay for everything using my credit card
I am willing to pay an annual fee if its worth it in the end.
What im looking for is points I can use to fly (Aeroplan?) Or cash back. I would prefer the points to fly > cash back. What card would you guys recommend?

If you are looking to fly, the Amex Aeroplan Gold is a good option right now. You get 30,000 Aeroplan points after spending $500 which is enough to fly economy anywhere in North America. Normally the card is $99/year but it's free first year if you are referred.
I have an Amex Aeroplan Platinum which gives you 50,000 points instead of 30,000 and some wicked benefits but they are mostly flying related (free lounge access, priority checkin) and for the increase in price ($499/year vs FREE), I wouldn't recommend it unless you are flying a lot.
The Gold is a fantastic deal right now and I actually just got one for myself, I now have both Amex cards.

First year is free either way, but you only get 20,000 points if not referred instead of 30,000 points.

The Aeroplan Platinum card is a good deal for a very specific niche of traveller - the guy who is flying within Canada mostly (since most of the benefits are AC related - Maple Leaf Lounge access, AC priority checkin, priority security lines in Canada (which is a godsend in Toronto btw), and the Aeroplan accumulation).
If you are flying more internationally, the regular Platinum card is a better deal as it lets you earn American Express points (NOT Aeroplan points) which can be converted to Aeroplan at 1:1 but can also become points for OneWorld, etc so this is quite a bit more flexible. It also includes international lounge access rather than the Maple Leaf and a few more non-travel perks.
For me, I will be dropping the Aeroplan Platinum card as I am now an Air Canada Elite 50k which includes virtually every benefit from the Platinum card, but for the first year, it was a great setup. The $499 fee was well covered with the 50k points (that's two trips to Toronto in economy, which are typically $600 each) and the benefits were great for the year. Also, since I was over the $20k spend for the year, I am earning 1.5 aeroplan points for every dollar spent which is pretty handy.
The Aeroplan Gold card though is really the "deal" - it gives you the ability to earn almost as many points (1 to 1.25 vs 1.25 to 1.5), comes with almost as many points (30,000 vs 50,000) but is free. Hard to beat that if you aren't going to be able to take advantage of the other perks. I signed up for the gold a few weeks ago and once I cancel the Aeroplan Platinum, I will use this one for the next year.

Haha, maybe? I've never canceled a credit card, though I will cancel the AeroPlat shortly when my one year is up, before I have to pay the renewal fee. I have about 300k Aeroplan points at this point in time so I am finding less of a need to signup for new cards for points, it's more about either keeping my ongoing costs to as close to 0 as possible or taking advantage of good benefits that I can use.

Mark | I would just go with the Rewards Gold. 2X points for gas/groceries.
Very similar perks / annual fee / welcome bonus.

It might be for some people, for me I have a pretty substantial annual spend on the card but it isn't things that will qualify for the 2:1 "travel" designation. For me, the 1.5 points (now 1.25 with the AeroGold after $10k) plus the extra points at signup are not insignificant. I agree that the decision is a lot harder at the Gold level though compared to the Platinum where it's very easy to decide, it simply depends on your travel patterns.

The value of it is higher (considering the conversion of $1 to points/cashback). Even if you don't plan major travels, the sake of insurance coverage driving across the border or venturing outside of the province is worth it enough for me. $120/year = $10/month --> you'll be spending more on dinners out.
The gold elite is a dud. I'd rather take the MBNA cashback versus the Gold Elite; take into consideration the $99 annual fee of the Gold Elite vs. none for the MBNA cashback.
I'm assuming since you're considering both of those, you may have a ALL inclusive account. If so, go with the First Class Travel. I'll take BCAA over TD Autoclub for the sake that I know who will be coming to my rescue if needed (TD Autoclub is the benefit of having the Gold Elite in addition to the 1% cashback).
