| Best 50cc Scooter
Not sure if this is the right forum. But I'm in the market for a scooter. Work is 5 minutes away, and with school being 15 minutes away and gas prices skyrocketing i don't mind saving some cash and I recently just sold my car.
Also if this thread turns into scooters are for fags go fuck yourself.
and I don't wanna hear that "vancouver weather sucks" because I rode a fucking bicycle for 5 years in the rain and snow to get to work. You guys are just lazy pussies.

I had a Derbi Bullet before, for stock scooter, it can top out at 80km/h, even with a passenger too!

Any Honda, Yamaha, Derbi, Sym (uses Honda motors) Kymco, Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia will be fine. Keep the displacement at 49cc and you're golden.
Avoid retarded brands like Hyosung, Lifan and anything that sounds Korean or Chinese. You will get fucked up the ass.

Whats the top 2 scooters that can legally have 2 people? In terms of reliability, maintenance costs, upfront costs, speed, of course.

I love the looks of the Ruckus. I have a thing for wide tires.
But I also like the Aprilia SR50.

Ruckus looks cool but doesn't have a good underseat storage and everyone seems to ignore the fact that it's a 4 stroke...

For what it's worth, I heard the Honda Ruckus is one of the slowest scoots out there. That and plus what other poster said, no storage. Yamaha has a couple with 125cc (BWS, VINO). Honda has 100cc, 125cc, 150cc, and more. You may want to try that out, I'd at least go with 100cc. I've sat on a 50cc and it sounds like my gas lawnmower, not feeling confident on that in case you need to get yourself out of a jam.
If you want to move up to motorcycle, Honda has a 125cc CBR model that will be great on gas and a lot more fun to ride. Used ones go for less than $2000.

Even a 50 cc YSR with a 5 speed manual requires a motorbike liscence to legally ride around town.

I did a fair amount of research before buying...
A 50cc scooter falls under "limited speed motorcycle", technically you're only supposed to
max out at 70 km/h. But a 2-stroke right from the dealer will be faster than that.
To me, the top speed isn't the biggest concern, it's that 50cc has barely enough to get
by.
Example:
- On a hill, my cousin's Jazz can do about 45km/h. I'm bombing up hills at 65km/h.
- I can beat most cars off the line. Her Jazz barely keeps up with them.
I can live with a 2-stroke, but when I think about having cars blast past me 20km/h faster on a hill... a 4-stroke just doesn't feel very safe.
For BEST I'd say the Aprilia SR50, it's pretty much THE premium sports scooter out there.
- 2-stroke, more power than a 4-stroke.
- front AND rear disc brakes.
- Liquid cooled
- fuel injected, extremely fuel efficient.
- The suspension is really good, it just hugs the corners.
- With unlocked ECU and mild upgrades, I'm doing over 90km/h. My friend with a fuel
regulator installed is doing over 100km/h
- Digital dash
Downsides:
- The trunk doesn't fit a full-face helmet
- After market parts are limited though
fyi,
My Second scooter is a Bugeye, a Yamaha BWS.
The sheer number of available parts for it are staggering.
I bought this purely as a toy to turn into a beastly rocket, just never got around to doing it.
1. 2-stroke
2. Front disc brakes
3. The trunk will fit a full-face helmet.
Shameless plug:
Yes, I'm looking to sell it off.
VERY low Kms (I think might have just broken 2000km hahahaha, still practically a virgin ).
Also have the sport Screen.

I live in richmond, and its flat so I wont have any issues with hills.
So I guess the concession is a 2 stroke is best? I believe the derbi is a 2 stroke and it's pretty cheap used.
And i'm not looking to spend more than 2 grand used.

why used if you can get new? http://gacheckpoint.com/motorsports/scooters
cant beat japanese reliability. I ride a 2 stroke Vino before (now Aprilia SR50). highly suggest the 2 stroke BWs.

New would put him over his $2000 budget.
Majin - for $2000, you can get a nice 2-stroke Yamaha BWS with enough money leftover for at least a helmet and some insurance.

I used to rent scooters.. we had the ruckus, jazz and BW
ruckus was the slowest by far, but looked the coolest
the newer model Jazz's were pretty quick actually 70 kmh ish, pretty durable, and nice and quiet
the BW was pretty handy with room for 2, good storage, better styling then the Jazz, and good power, would get up to 80 k if i remember correctly.. i dont think the BW would bog down as bad on hills as compared to the Jazz
