Finance off an RS member Hey guys, Culverin is stepping in and helping me with getting around. I recently got rid of my car after losing one of my jobs. And with this + school it's literally impossible for me to afford even a beater. I still make money, but after rent + food + paying off personal debt, it's tough for me to actually get any mode of transportation. And after being on the bus for the last 3 weeks I gotta say it's fucking brutal. Getting groceries or going to school isn't an issue but it's the minute that I want to visit relatives family or friends. While driving to work was only 5 minutes away, its now 40 minutes by bus + long walk. And getting to family friends which was also a 5-10 minute drive is now 50 minutes by bus. I really can't afford to be losing this much time especially since I work + full time school, and I really dislike staying at home. With the passion. So culverin is stepping in and helping me out. I'm going to be making payments to him which will be payed to him in a 2 month span. The idea of opening up this thread is to ensure that 1) I don't flake on him 2) That if I do flake on him, public embarrassment and rs beat down squad. Thoughts? |
Good Guy Culverin. Quoted to prevent editing? lol.. Spoiler! |
You know that if I edit, you can just view the old post by clicking the link under my sig right? |
"While driving to work was only 5 minutes away, its now 40 minutes by bus + long walk." How fast do you drive? Busing couldn't be that bad, if you look up their schedule when will the bus arrive, then you wouldn't have to wait. If you are under so much financial stress, you should never considered a car. I assume you are in University or College, so don't they have UPass, free bus ride for cheap. And considering gas price, icbc insurance, car maintenance while paying rent, food, going to school. Don't even consider it. Just hold up after you finish school get a good job and then drive a bimmer haha |

.................... is it necessary to create such a meaningless thread? especially in auto chat section? |
Any Greek home cooking on the table as part of the deal? Good on you, Maj. I like the initiative on your part. Not to be presumptuous, but should be a nice outcome for both of you if all goes according.. :) |

Are you paying interest? |
Good to see RSer come together. |
I met Majin. Great guy and pretty independant. In these times any help you can get is better than nothing. How is he helping you get around though? |

explain what that top layer is.Potato? |
He makes me sound like such a good guy... hahahaha I guess this thread is kinda going both ways to protect both of us... Coles Notes: MH was considering scooter. I want to sell off my unused scooter. He's not making that much. I'm not in a crazy rush for the money. Buying used from somebody he "knows" is better than some stranger off craigslist and cheaper than new. I'm lazy and hate listing things off craigslist and arranging showing times. I guess this works out for both of us. I don't really feel the need to collect interest on this, the scooter isn't that much and as long as the money eventually all comes in soon-ish, I'm not going to fret about it. As for further info from my end: Scooter is used, was running fine when I stopped using it, but unsure of actual mechanical healthiness? Has some costmetic damage from a slow speed low-side. Battery will be charged and I'll polish her up first. I'm hoping you guys might be able to offer some advice for contract terms, collateral? Any other sort of legalities we need to protect ourselves? |
oh lol this is about a scooter..... then its fine, even if he ran away wid it... xD |
You can pay to have a contract notarized. Less than $100. Probably way less. You write your own contract(which I HIGHLY recommend) that basically lists the vehicle in question, the agreed upon price and some type of terms for re-payment. Could be as simple as"do what you want, but I'd like to be paid within the year" Take it in, and NP looks at your ID, confirms you are who you say you are, and witnesses you both signing. Stamps it. It's official. Honestly, I think Majin did the good step of putting it out there publicly. What's better than a piece of paper? Majin is a longer term member, he's known and we have seen that when these things end up going down, the internet CAN make it uncomfortable. I think its pretty cool to be lax with the payment terms. Honestly, the only thing I'd worry about is if the thing breaks. That's when these deals end up going south. Sample dialogue: "why am I paying you for a broken piece of shit?" More: "fine! come and take your broken piece of shit back. I don't want it." |

There should be some sort of written agreement, where as soon as it's under Majin's name, it's his responsibility, even if, say, for whatever reason, it breaks down 3 hours later. Not to say Culverin wouldn't help him out or come to some sort of compromise, but that's just to cover Culverin's ass. Like Gridlock said.. these "under the table" payment plans can get ugly. "I want my money back, I didn't even get a full days use out of it and it broke down, blah blah.." or "I'm not gonna keep paying you for something that doesn't work..." In the end, we're all mature adults here. (For the most part :troll: ) And if anything like that were to happen I'm sure there'd be help available. |
funny this is what RS has become after 10 years auto chat becomes talking about how another member is gonna do this and financial problems :heckno::heckno::heckno: |
