Google: Project Glass

We believe technology should work for you — to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't.

A team within our Google[x] group started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment.

:considered:

Looks pretty dope. Looks too futuristic :lol

GoneGuru 04-04-2012 03:42 PM

I wonder how many people will be killed driving with these, or walking into hazardous areas / busy roads while distracted with them.

Manic! 04-04-2012 03:47 PM

Just wait till it gets Google adds.

ilovebacon 04-04-2012 03:49 PM

looks pretty nuts. i can already imagine having it in the future.

bobbyhill 04-04-2012 03:50 PM

i think there' somthing to being less "connected" in the current world

i waste enough time as there is with an iphone etc.

rsx 04-04-2012 04:44 PM

Definitely cool, but to be inundated with that much crap would be annoying. Imagine walking down a street and all you see are pop up ads and promotions.

Ronin 04-04-2012 04:48 PM

The technology in here isn't that far off. The only thing is making a head-up display that's small, efficient and cost effective enough to be a consumer product...then cramming an iPhone or Android into it.

bloodmack 04-04-2012 04:54 PM

do-able, but it kind of seems lame to me.. monsiure gay?:lawl:

tiger_handheld 04-04-2012 05:00 PM

those will be some epic glasses. its like wearing a phone on ur eyes ..

Hehe 04-04-2012 05:27 PM

I don't think it would be too much a distraction if properly designed.

It's like the head up display on some cars. It tells you some extra info, but it doesn't really make you shift away your focus.

Excelsis 04-04-2012 05:32 PM

walking down the street, won't even notice the damn cars coming at you

chun 04-04-2012 05:33 PM

From Reddit: "I hope Project Glass is just the code name and the final release name is Googly Eyes."

lol

Tim Budong 04-04-2012 05:37 PM

So this is the future...

Ulic Qel-Droma 04-04-2012 05:46 PM

lol, in the future we wont need to wear anything. it will just be some cybernetic implant running google software.

Think somebody's already working on the contact lens version

jackmeister 04-04-2012 11:14 PM

seems more like iLens than Google Eyes.

FerrariEnzo 04-05-2012 12:04 AM

man i can just see lawsuits being file for stupid people who have accidents using these...

or maybe even apple will launch some more lawsuits at google.. lol

J____ 04-05-2012 01:29 AM

wow, this will make people even more stupid and incapable of doing day to day stuff without technology... I find myself less and less competant with the aid of smartphones, gps, etc etc already...

StylinRed 04-05-2012 02:49 AM

Finally

thanks for posting dude, but I stopped watching when the guy had to get walking directions to his workplace, which was only 10 fckin blocks away. Go fuck your frappucino cup in the piss stained street corner there bro, seriously. That's my problem with some of this shit, I understand convenience, but when people rely on technology to the extent where they can't do the simplest things in life, damn...

I'm not a fan of any of this privacy invading BS all these tech companies are coming up with, it's like there's an Olympics in who can reach into your asshole the furthest, and all these companies have sent out their delegations carrying lubed batons with micro cameras on the tips, because it ain't enough just gettin in there, they need to see what you're all about so they can target their ads to you more personalized.
The only thing I await from Google is the super fast internet of their own they said they were creating for us in the near future, where they bought up almost all the super fast fiber optic cables in the world and are in the process of installing them slowly right now.

And one of my best friends is a bigtime Google fanboy, fck it's annoying sometimes, when we ain't talkin sports every one of his sentences contains either "google" "android" or "ice cream sandwich"
I don't understand people who live through their gizmos and the internet, to me the internet will always be, news & sports, entertainment, interaction (forums like this, and I'm not even on Facebook) and porn... nothing more and nothing less than that... (also that list was in no particular order, because obviously porn is definitely not last on the list)

and gotdang you know things are moving too fast, we can have this in the next few years, and Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge was stuck with these..... IN THE 24th CENTURY !
