cause of bad breath??

i've had my teeth checked and cavities filled back in January and recently my gf complains that my breath stinks even after i brush my teeth and use mouth wash, floss everyday. I can't smell anything nor does anyone else? could it be the reason that my wisdom teeth are growing? they are about half way grown and i read somewhere that they could also cause bad breath. This is very embarrassing! What can I do? Has anyone tried "Oraltech Labs"?

Rotting teeth will do it as well.

i got my teeth checked up. Nothing is rotting. Noticed the bad breath once my wisdoms grew out but not entirely sure.

Do you scrape your tongue? You might also want to check for tonsil stones.

lowda9 04-11-2012 02:09 AM

bad breaths not only can be caused from something inside the mouth. Could be from your esophagus, stomach, etc.

dinamix 04-11-2012 06:32 AM

Dry mouth...drink fluids frequently

Supafly 04-11-2012 06:41 AM

gum disease. 1 in 3 people have it without knowing it...A lot of people brush their teeth incorrectly. Its up/down...not sawing action. :)

gdoh 04-11-2012 06:44 AM

brush all the white shit off your tongue

GLOW 04-11-2012 07:02 AM

dry mouth and lack of food as well. if you're starving and haven't eaten in a while i forget the name of the process but i believe it causes bad breath too.

melloman 04-11-2012 07:34 AM

gdoh & Bonka are correct

Most likely on the back of your tongue, you have shit built up and it causes the bad breath. (I have this and brush my tongue every time I bursh my teeth)

If you want to confirm this, it'll be pricey @ $240/visit, but go to Dr. Samson Ng (need a referral from your dentist) and he's a oral hygienist and can give you his opinion. If it is the tongue and he asks if you chew gum, say yes. I said no and he didn't want to give me the gum which will help break down the crap. :okay:

Prescription gum?

TheNewGirl 04-11-2012 01:34 PM

Are you on any medications?
Many medications cause dry mouth which can contribute to bad breath.

blee123 04-11-2012 02:00 PM

Brush way back of the back of your tongue and the back of the roof of your mouth, and floss.

I've always wondered if other people smelled my breath too.. to the point where it has sort of become a compulsion.. After I eat I avoid talking to people unless i brush my teeth after. I even carry a toothbrush in my backpack and at work. (Also because my teeth always get food stuck in them too).

Yeah but the other people seem to be correct.. Get the crap off your tongue and avoid dry mouth.

And for me mouthwash seems to make breath worse faster than if you didnt use anything at all cept water.

The only benefit of my compulsion seems to be the fact that I always get asked why my teeth are so white.. (I think I got asked by 3 people in the last week. ~_~)

hi-revs 04-13-2012 04:24 PM

dehydration/lack of water may also play a part in that as well.

twitchyzero 04-13-2012 04:33 PM

if your gf started noticing it when your wisdom teeth was coming out...that's probably the cause of it. It's likely swollen and food gets caught really easily and most people have difficulty cleaning it.

I would suggest buying a end-tuft brush so it can access the back a lot easier. That should do the trick. On top of brushing and floss, brush your tongue with the birstles horizontally (in relation to your front teeth) outwards. Don't forget to floss/end-tuft brush the back surfaces of your erupting wisdom teeth as best you can.
