That'll definitely throw out the accuracy if you're exceeding the maximum which it can read. That's why there are torque wrenches and breaker bars. Mastercraft Maximum Ratcheting Breaker Bar | Canadian Tire
it's 25$ go get it

never use a torque wrench as a breaker. I never use my torque wrenches for anything except torquing bolts.
Never taken bolts off with one, never will.
and always store the torque wrench with tension off the spring.

I've seen torque wrenches blown up because of misuse. A torque wrench is a calibrated tool, and is not to be misused. Even dropping it could throw it out of calibration. It's best to use a torque wrench within it's middle ranges and not it lower or upper ranges as well.

I use one of my torque wrenches as a breaker bar quite often, one of the main reasons I bought it. It is over 6 feet long assembled and feels about 70lbs. I just leave it at
2000 ft-lbs and hope I don't shear the spindle off again.

next on my list is a cordless one.

I have a Mastercraft electric impact, except it puts out 220ft/lbs I think. Best $30 I ever spent, it's small enough that you can reach most suspension bolts with it and an impact is far less likely to break a bolt than a bar. Even if I only ever used it for removing lug nuts it'd be a great purchase.
That said, it's no replacement for a breaker bar. 36" breaker bar with all my weight on it equates to 600ft/lbs worth of twisting force to break free a corroded bolt.

Got a non-ratcheting 22" breaker bar from Canadian Tire for around $20, heavy as hell and a non-ratcheting head. You can find some pretty cheap ones and with something as simple as the one I got there's no way it's breaking haha. It was on sale though, go look around. Take every care you can to keep your torque wrench in good condition. It's a precision instrument.

the problem with breaker bars vs impact guns is you put so much force on one side of the bolt. its not a uniform circular force. even tho it has a socket contacting all sides of the bolt head, you are still putting up to 600lbs of force in a downward motion on the left side of the bolt.
a good example of that is the difference between using a J tire iron and an X tire iron. the X tire iron has a uniform movement with a circular force being applied to both sides and stays on the nut, and the J tire iron WANTS to slide off the nut.
