Cleaned my exhaust tips:

I didn't have any microfibre cloth, but the steel wool definitely made it shinier...

Went to Ikea and bought some snakes to make a snake pit out of my ashtray. Enhanced security system :accepted:

Spoiler!

Akinari 06-04-2012 12:58 PM

Finished off my ghetto DIY short ram intake with a piece of dryer duct from Home Depot. Cut off a small piece of the front airdam behind the upper grille allowing more air to enter the dryer duct.

Strangely enough, the dryer duct actually makes the intake system louder lol.

This is as ghetto as it gets. I'm itching to just rip the entire airbox out, buy some Spectre intake pipes and stick on a cone filter at the end.

EDIT: For those who are wondering, ripping out the stock resonator does make a difference in acceleration and throttle response, however more so in the higher rpms and at WOT. Can't feel any feasible difference during normal driving.

OGCStrike 06-04-2012 01:28 PM

^ how does it look from the front view of the car?
would there be evidence of the ghetto short ram? XD

Akinari 06-04-2012 01:44 PM

If you look closely through the front of the upper grille, you can see it, as I cut out a piece of the airdam behind that grille to allow more airflow.

But why would anyone look for it anyway lol :okay:

Since the tube itself is not smooth, it will introduce a lot of turbulence.. What you can notice is probably just your imagination. Try to keep the metal from touching any other metal parts like your battery post.. you don't want have other things corrode because you thought putting cheap non automotive things into the engine compartment is a good idea.

Got my Ashtray in and sanded the rust and ugly chipped paint off my springs and repainted them

The dryer duct itself isn't directly connected to that plastic intake snorkel, it simply guides air in. My setup without the dryer duct can be seen a couple posts back.

Use a bottle of leather conditioner and some leather dye if nothing else, makes a big difference!

I don't think those earthquake cracks are going to come out LP

Thanks lol. I plugged my dashcam in the outlet next to the ash tray next to the ash tray so my ashtray door is just wide open. Strolled through Ikea the other day with GF and decided to make a snake pit to fill up the space. Plush polar bears, snakes, dogs, mooses looked adorable lol only $0.79 each!

What Godwin is talking about is the fact that after the air filter is still the stock rubber piping which causes turbulent air going into the motor.
Remember, when you are driving, there is plenty of cool air flowing through the engine bay.
Like a pipe organ, a properly tuned CAI is velocity tuned so that the mendrel bend piping will smooth out the air going into the motor.
