Really sickens me how people forget to drive in bad weather. We only have pissing rain 7-8 months of the year.

Dumbasses...

88SupraT 11-16-2013 04:18 PM

tofu you could always buy the car back and swap the 1jz into something

a00755836 11-16-2013 08:56 PM

Seriously sucks to see that Supra in that kind of condition, Mk3s are pretty sick, especially those with the 1J. =\

Is it for sure a write off? Any potential to fix it or is it just a lost cause. Its such a shame to total such a nice car over what seems like semi minor damage, although I know my corrado was written off basically the same way. Fight fucking tooth and nail to not let ICBC fuck you. I hope you get enough to get something that makes you as happy as the supra if it is for sure done. Fuck.:okay:

tofu1413 11-17-2013 08:09 PM

a lot of bending for them to do... and they gotta some how source "used" parts for that car. If my memory serves me correct the twin turbo Rs came with factory wider front fenders.. not sure where theyd find that :okay:

headlight linkages are bent :okay: same along goes with the rad support.. not sure if they could bend it back. trashed the intercooler as well..

feels bad to have someone else ruin it for me.

gonna go see a lawyer tomorrow. Hope icbc wont screw me over with a lowball offer... its not just any regular mk3 either.. its a twin turbo R! :okay:

Bah... I put the winters on and took the opportunity to wash all of my rims on the inside as well. The 18s are freshly washed, de-flated to about 19psi and packed away nicely in bags on my garage wall.

Also gave her a decent hand wash cuz with the dipping temps I'm not sure when I'll get another chance.

The only nice thing about my winter mode is that she still look sexy with the stockies.

They write it off if the cost to fix is worth more than the book value of the car. It is indeed sad to see a mk3 supra written off like that and an unfortunate situation for tofu. However i would rather have it written off than having to straighten a bent frame with mysterious used parts. Also to note that straightening the frame effects the structural integrity of the car and most likely form uneven gaps on body panels. If thats the case, than Good luck with resale. Matters especially more since we all know how often he goes through his cars :troll:

hope your feeling better alex

resale matters :troll:

I question the strength of the body if they do fix it and pull it straight... was gonna auto X this thing in spring.. and the mk3 Supra... is the heaviest of all Supras.. (although the twin turbo R is the light weight version..) wont feel safe driving the thing like it was designed to.

SupraMan604 11-18-2013 12:59 AM

Sux to hear tofu mine was hit twice in the last 3 months... luckily all minor and once while it was even parked. ICBC girl on the phone said my car might be written of when I reported it becuase she said my car was old but she did not know it was a MKIV:ifyouknow:

Sucks real bad man....though one thing you might want to check into for one is the fenders if they would need to be replaced. The "wide" fenders for jdm supras are really just the standard front fenders for usdm MKIII supras. The body shop can just source some fenders from a supra from a wrecker and they are the exact same.

The only reason why the ttr supras are termed as having the "wide" fenders is jdm MKIII supras had actually two choices. One is the "narrow" body and the other is the "wide" body (wide body being standard design for usdm).

I wish you luck though man hopefully something good will come out of it :okay:

ah, that explains the narrow body/ wide body thing.

went back to the body shop today to grab a few things.. and turns out icbc grabbed the car already... (they said in a few days, didnt expect today)

so depressing :okay:

If you genuinely don't feel safe after the frame etc has been straightened, tell ICBC that. As much as people rag on them 24/7, they will take your opinions into consideration. When my Jeep was hit i truly didn't feel safe driving it again because of all the suspension/frame damage, so when i told them that it pushed it over the edge into "write off" territory.

Swapped my shitty bosch platinum plugs the PO had in for some NGK iridium trying to chase down a 5000+ rpm misfire.
6800 rpms are now misfire free.:fullofwin:
