What's wrong with it?

I don't know a lot about car maintenance and I'm changing my brakes for the first time soon.

imp_squared 01-26-2014 05:37 PM

^ stress on the brake lines, never put stress on brake lines.

fliptuner 01-26-2014 05:37 PM

Look how stretched the hydraulic line is. Looks like it's holding the weight of the whole axle.

If it had to droop that far to get the coils in, it's only 2 bolts to get the caliper off.

that is still detached, as you can see the spring isn't even seated in the photo, and the damper is not even connected. the axle's weight is held by the jack in the photo, the car was on jack stands, the axle on the jack

think of it this way, if the car is lowered from stock, there will be more slack then stretched for all lines, brake line, speed sensor etc etc

I see your point, ahh my bad I guess I did put some extra stress on the brake lines during install, my goof lol

fliptuner 01-26-2014 08:31 PM

At least you know better for next time.

underscore 01-26-2014 09:43 PM

Yeah it's not the best thing to do but at least you have a newer car, it'll shorten the life of the line but it's unlikely to show any immediate damage.

I installed a harness and relay today to make my car signals flash 3 times if I just push on the stalk lightly (rather than pushing the stalk so that it clicks into the turn position). Cool little mod.

Reminded me, I was looking for that rivet gun last week, and couldn't locate it. I think I know where it is now, but there is a lot of stuff in my way, I'll see if I can clean up my mess and get to it.

(This is a by product of moving everything from a huge house with a big garage and shed to a tiny little garage. I need to get rid of some stuff, anyone need some extension ladders, I have like 5 for some reason...LOL)

Got any more info on the thing? How hard was install?

I drove some German cars that have that feature and loved it.

I drive a 2005 Jetta and this feature became stock starting with the 2005.5 models and up. Found out in Europe they all came with this feature, so I ordered the relay and harness - it is VW part. Got it from here: Turn Signal Convenience Mod (A4) (B5.5) - 000998229A - IDParts.com

I actually got pulled over a few weeks ago for not using my turn signal for a minimum of three flashes and I once owned a 2006 that did these flashes automatically, so I knew this mod was going to happen.

The hardest part was getting the wires and connectors out of the one plug/harness and then pressed into the new plug. Tried using a Blue Point tool, that was useless. Tried hammering a paperclip flat and that worked for one and then bent to heck, so I finally found a flat cotter pin and I turned the tips down and it popped those connectors out of the old harness plug like nothing. So, once I figured out those wires, it was rather easy. I should add that I had a friend help me because it is not easy to hold the harness/plug, wiggle the cotter pin just right so the connector 'clicks', and pull out the wire/connector.

Srs? Damn. I'll admit, I'm guilty of single flash signaling when there's no one in the lane I'm going into.

Anyone know if this is in the MVA (min. 3 flashes for lane change/turning)?

LP700-4 01-27-2014 02:30 PM

Damn i wish they made one for Honda/Acura.

One of the little things on a car that make it so much better.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything specific on the number of times per say. The officer gave me a warning - said I needed to give ample notice, not just one flash. I think he was just bored.

Yeah same, another cool little feature is if you click the + once on your select shift while in drive a little 1 through 6 will show up on the 4.3" display betwen the speedo and tach and it will highlight which gear you're in, kinda neat.

BTW, have you painted to match your grill yet?

Spoiler!

Kidding. :) See spoiler.

Installed a spin knob, and did some spins. And an air freshener, the interior of the RX7 absolutely reeks of weed.

I think the newer Avalanche has it as well.

Not today but over the past month I've began building my new 550hp engine for my Scout. Today tho I built one of two heads for a 2.5 mazda v6 I'm building. Aiming for over 300whp. Custom cams dual valve springs titanium retainers ported out the intake runners and smoothed the combustion chambers.

Klondike 01-27-2014 10:32 PM

I washed bird crap off of the corolla; even they hate it :okay:

dark0821 01-28-2014 11:27 AM

My Hyundai comes with the auto-3flash signal. It does come in handy alot =P

And here I am considering putting 3000k into my fogs - but using Philips ballasts. Still wondering if I should maybe go with 5000k like my lights, though.
