decided that my fmic and charge piping was looking a little weathered and oxidized

the difference with a dremel and a wire wheel bit
http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/...pszuxdtuzh.jpg

better pic to compare

http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/...psajddmvaw.jpg

then idecided to sand the whole face down then polish it, it made for alot of uneven spots that took a very long time to smooth out

http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/...psse4d2pte.jpg

finish product, sanded the whole thing with 280, 400, 800 then 1200, then polishing head with a drill and dremel and some aluminum polish, then a pic and a bunch of flat heads to fix ALL of the fcking fins, but it was very worth it

http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/...psaw9vlzxp.jpg

also picked up some goodies.. more on the way :D

Passed aircare barely with my HC reading just below the limit. The whole place smelled like fuel after he was done lol. Makes me think that a car must be pretty bad if it fails aircare? Also installed some jl audio coaxial speakers.

kakucaekz 03-31-2014 08:26 PM

^ My car failed aircare.. LOL. HC during the idle tests were 3x above limit, but I passed the driving part. Huh.

Sourced out my coolant leak; the VSV valve wasn't tight enough and is leaking ever so slightly. Also fabbed an added an aluminium piece to my front license plate bracket so the thing is more stable at high speeds. Also insured the thing for 3 months. Bank account didn't like that one.

fliptuner 03-31-2014 09:51 PM

Still breaking in. Probably tons of blow-by.

kakucaekz 03-31-2014 09:56 PM

That's what I'm hoping. But I have a full jug of Toyota Red in my trunk just in case LOL.

fliptuner 03-31-2014 09:58 PM

I say give it a couple thousand km, change the oil and go through again.

thats weird, when did you take your aircare test? Because they left my idle test part blank, so I don't know how I did there. Maybe now that aircare is almost over they're more lenient.

Took it this past Saturday, car is a 91. It was in Richmond, dunno if that has to do with anything.

washed, vacuum'ed it, bled the brakes with ATE blue, and changed out the rusty chrome lug nuts for some black ones.

Paint is not bad after the wash. (this shade of blue usually gets cloudy and fades)

Tinting the windows by myself for the first time (in March)

You need the following...
1. Clean towel
2. Masking tape
3. Water bottle (50% Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo 50% water)
4. Trimming tools
5. Tinting blade tools
http://www.pixentral.com/pics/1NlWyU...TBQixnfD6k.jpg

bought a roll of 40% film for $30,
http://www.pixentral.com/pics/1giP5U...FQCGRrCzye.jpg

Cut the shape of the windows first
http://www.pixentral.com/pics/1hLqzA...Sh6TR7t5DQ.jpg

Trimmed the top edge, but later I found that not necessary, can do it in next step
http://www.pixentral.com/pics/1ycjpM...WJnIesmMl1.jpg

Spray a lot of solution on the window inside, now you can transfer the tinting film and from the interior. Use the yellow blade to get the water out.

Not perfect and it takes a lot of time. I will re-do it again later this month. There are still small bubbles that I can't get rid of.

First data log after installing the FMIC.

VDyno plot from logs.
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3739/...27b23ed0_c.jpg

Afterwards, I modified the tune.
- Added more fuel to MAF curve to fix up my AFR's
- Increase low-mid range timing.
- Increase WG dc% at the low end to see if it can help with the FMIC lag.

Cleaned choke linkage, and freed up rear drum.

Spoiler!

I admire the time it took to do that, talk about time consuming. Turned out great.

I can tell I'm getting old/lazy because if that was me, I just would have ended up painting it flat black and be done with it lol :fuckthatshit:

ohshitvtec 04-05-2014 12:32 PM

pumped air, and cleaned the tyres

Sometimes I wonder why I bother to wash my car when it always rains a few days later, but then after I dry my car and take a step back I realize why it's worth it :)

Washed the little miata too and cleaned away a few layers of brake dust on the wheels, didn't realize they were such a light silver.
