I drove to White Pine after I put my tires on but I wasn't with a TSX and TL. They must have just been behind me.

Yesterday - replaced calipers, rotors, and pads on my VW. Was bleeding the brakes afterwards and discovered that one of the new calipers was leaking from behind the piston seal. No parts stores were delivering yesterday. Borrow a car, to the store, pick up new caliper and voila - I can stop again.

Too sunny to wash the car today so I did a little interior cleaning instead.

Coming off the lot, despite being CPO, the car was still a little dirty on the inside. Much of the interior trim looked like the the sun visors up top. Cleaned the entire interior and wiped down the dash and trim with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Will vacuum and stuff later.

With your commute, that would put me to sleep.

I'm not one of those people that can't enjoy driving a car if it isn't a manual. Why don't we all go back to clubbing our women and wearing mammoth pelts? I don't think I'd want this car if it had the automatic transmission that's in the Golf but DSG is superior in every way to the manual in a GTI.

Plus double clutch shifts faster...and makes a sweet car farting noise on the upshift that you don't get with the manual gearbox. I can yell "MISSSSSFIRRRINGGGG SYSTEMUUUU!" every time. (Yes, I know it isn't the same thing.)

Same setup as me. Stage 1 + Carbonio intake + stock exhaust. It's even white.

vw clutch pedal is too close to the brake pedal

Gotta skin off my thighs :okay:

ApePee2 08-05-2014 07:29 PM

Opti-coated the wheels: face, spokes and inner barrels.

Going to have the tires mounted, wheels mounted and alignment tomorrow. :woot2:

Autoglym SRP followed by HD wax.
Hands down the most hydrophobic wax I've used since Zaino, but cheaper and more user friendly.

Pre Polish, I washed with Meguiars Gold Class, followed by claybar.

Polish/Wax was done by hand, as the paint was already in great condition, apart from a few rock chips.

Looks good!

I find the AG hd wax doesn't last very long, at least in comparison to the Extra Gloss Protection.

Just did the wife's car with SRP, then topped with the Extra Gloss Protection. Turned out awesome, and the beading is unreal.

The HD wax is worth it though, especially if you can grab it on sale at Can Tire.

Ronin 08-06-2014 01:15 PM

Is this Meguiar's wax any good?

Spoilered for unnecessarily large picture of a box of car wax...

importfruit79 08-06-2014 07:36 PM

Meguairs is shit, either use automagic, Adams or zaino

I think it's pretty good, I have the paste version of this though. Not as glossy as some of the other waxes but it brings out the colour more.

Looks good David. I've been using the extra gloss protection as well, but after I had my car painted I had it Opti-coated, and now it stays like that without any extra wax/sealant.

Zedbra 08-07-2014 08:44 AM

I simply drove mine for 300km. I wanted to clear my thoughts, so I turned up the radio, rolled down the windows and went for a nice long drive. Cars can be therapy.

westopher 08-07-2014 09:16 AM

Its the same as how I felt about my bike when I was a kid. As soon as you were allowed to head out on your own, how far you wanted to go and what you wanted to see was only limited by how long you could pedal. Now we can go farther, and faster, just limited by time instead of our own energy now.

dared3vil0 08-07-2014 11:13 AM

^ There was nothing like hopping on pedal bikes with a few buddies and riding until it was dark and you were lost. Good times.

HD wax is supposed to just edge out egp in durability since egp is supposed to be a sealant.

Wonder if I can egp over the wax... Apparently the wax can be layered for more gloss.

You want to use a sealant under wax, otherwise the wax will break down first and take the sealant with it.

edit: just read up on HD wax and it's not a true carnauba, egp and HD wax appear to be similar products so there's no point of using them both.

Don't like the completely black badges available for GTI...ordered these black with a chrome outline ones to see how they'd look.

Looks better than all black or all chrome (as in the vid you posted). My OCD-ness would probably remove it altogether for symmetry and cleanliness.

I changed my oil the other day and noticed bearing grease inside one of my wheels, so today I changed one of the axles and the MTF, then cleaned all the gooey crap out of the barrel.

Ronin 08-07-2014 06:20 PM

If you take the badge off altogether, there are ugly mounting points behind it on the grille so I thought this was a good way to black it out a little without the $150 badgeless grille.
