In that case, yeah, that's the best of the 3, IMO.

Switched tires to other side of car to help offset the shoulder damage due to autocross.

Washed and clayed. Apparently I don't have enough microfiber towels so I'm washing before I do polish and wax.

For the first time (in my ownership) I had someone other than myself work on my car. That being said it was an ICBC windshield claim repair done through the Mercedes dealer at Vision auto glass in Burnaby. Turns out they charged ICBC for rubber seals and then just used the old ones. There is also a lot more top end engine noise coming into the cabin.

Another two hours polish and wax. Who says you can't get a mirror finish on white?

...no, that's the garage door's wood texture.

Uh yah... if you're a girl and love huge repair bills. Or maybe if you're a pirate and your peg leg keeps slipping off the clutch pedal.

Seriously though, it's cool if people want the DSG for their own reasons, but don't say it's better than the manual in every single way. Unless you live in LA.

It's impossible to be better than a manual in every single way, since one way that the manual is superior is letting you properly row your own gears.

The only time I'd want a DSG type gearbox is if I were actually on a track, racing competitively, and every millisecond counts.

On the street, give me a manual.

Can't say i agree with manual being best on a GTI.

For some reason VW manual gearboxes always felt weird to me. I test drove both the DSG and manual GTI while ago and the manual felt like other VW manuals ive driven. Maybe its to do with different clutch engagement points or something but the only way i'd get a gti would be in DSG also.

Washed it twice with dish soap, then a good polish with AG, then a good hand wax with AG High Def - she's nice and shiny now. At this point it is more for rust protection rather than looks, as my paint is toast up front after 280k

We're not in LA, but Vancouver is ranked second worst for traffic congestion in North America after LA....

I went from a manual car to a DSG GTI as well cause of my commute. You try going through Steveston and No.5 road, and then Knight street bridge to Vancouver every weekday afternoon rush hour with a manual car... gets old fast.
