Replaced the completely toasted rear shocks in the Cherokee with some shiny new Bilstien ones (damn things been getting more love than anything else). I had been putting it off since I knew attempting to remove the shocks is all but guaranteed to snap the upper bolts off in the captive nuts. Sure enough 3/4 snapped but a few minutes with a sledge and a punch busted the nuts out to be replaced with bolts. I'll have to redo the bolts though as I forgot to put washers on the bolts before feeding them though the chassis.

Removed the HID lighting the previous owner installed in both the headlights AND foglights.
I refuse to drive a vehicle with HID's, when no projector lens is used.
At least the previous owner installed (or had them installed) correctly, as I ended up having to remove the front bumper to get at the ballasts, etc. Friggin' pain in the ass lol

I was thinking of possibly going down that route, but haven't fully researched it out yet.

Imagine you want to water your lawn, and you want to upgrade your water pressure so there's more water coming out. The water here is analogous to light output.
So you go and purchase a system that outputs more water - this is the HID kit.
Now, you're supposed to also buy a new hose that is meant to spray the larger volume of water in a nice, defined spray - this is the projectors.
...but you don't. Because the hose (projectors) are expensive, hard to install, and you think to yourself fuckit.
So instead of using the proper hose, you get a garbage bin and just spray the shit out of everything. You're soaking your neighbour's lawn, their pets and children, and everyone around you, and ironically, the water that was meant to water your lawn is ending up everywhere else.
Projectors align the brighter light into useable light in front of you. Reflectors just scatter the light everywhere, you blind everyone in front of you, and you're actually getting less usable light.
Edit: Added picture - Reflectors on left, projectors on right.

Using HID in a halogen projector can be just as bad. Halogen projectors are not designed to displace the beam like Hid so in the end you receive scattered, intensified beams and potentially poor cut off shield.

^^Hmm... so you're saying a hose is more expensive than a booster pump/pressure tank?

Save yourself the money, time, and potential ticket for running HID's in reflector style headlights.
What you should do, and your best bet, is to go and buy some good halogen bulbs. Like Silverstars, etc etc. You'll be amazed at the difference they'll make compared to standard halogens. Not to mention they'll be much better than those shitty HID kits you're thinking of getting.

brought a blower motor, new key and lock from a honda wizard in abborsford. spent the night taking the old blower motor out. fuck that was a pain in the ass. strip one of the stupid plastic screw/rivet on the dash so that will need to be replace in the future…. got the old blower out though! plug the new one in and verify that it runs. now all i need is to buy some silicone to seal the up the new one when i put it in. quite proud of myself |

How do some manufacturers get HID's that dont glare in reflectors? For example some G35's have them, old S classes, older volvos, they all have HID's in reflectors but they dont glare

Even the JDM Element had factory halogen HIDs back in '03 and '04, however the reflector inside the headlight unit was visually designed differently from the non-HID USDM model.

Take my S320 for example. It has reflector Xenon, no glare at any point above the headlights, but can see the road clearly. Inside the car you can see the cutout and all the lights go downward. The halogen and Xenon version have different reflector design, can't really describe the difference in words.
