I've considered getting one of those E-Z drains, but figured it was not worth giving up the advantages of having a magnetic drain plug.

tastic 01-26-2015 06:48 AM

Remember to get the version with the nipple (short or regular) if you want to attach the adapter and hose for direct draining into the jug...the flat standard version will not attach to a hose.

An alternative for fumoto users who are concerned about not using a magnetic drain plug is to put a few rare earth magnets on the oil filter.

Gee, you guys would 'love' doing an oil change on the rally bug. Easily an hour job, usually two if I wash out the oil tank.

hud 91gt 01-26-2015 08:39 AM

Made an offer on a high compression 2.8L. This counts right?

donjalapeno 01-27-2015 10:32 AM

When are you guys throwing your summers back on? I see that the temps are averagely above 10c. Anyone have experience with michelin pilots SS in the coldish weather?

thumper 01-27-2015 10:48 AM

my nights are still cold... waiting for near end of spring. i don't want to be that guy every year who puts them back on early and then some freak snowfall hits.

meme405 01-27-2015 12:18 PM

I'm waiting as well, although it is literally killing me inside.

Gonna get the tires mounted on the wheels next week. Then I will wait till a nice day closer to the end of February before putting them on the car.

CCA-Dave 01-27-2015 12:26 PM

How'd the stereo install turn out?

If I wasn't going to whistler in 2 weeks I already would have done it. Winter is cancelled. Maybe next year.

I never switched to winters this time around and am still running my Pilot SS. They are fine for the weather we have, just don't be stupid.

tastic 01-27-2015 12:46 PM

Chomping at the bit to put the ss back on too.

multicartual 01-27-2015 01:14 PM

Our "winter" is almost like spring was 10 years ago!

Still at work, picking it up at 5ish. I'll update on how it sounds for sure.

3500 pound, 5spd auto, 200hp sedan...its literally impossible to be stupid in a TSX :lawl:

Ill probably wait till mid February in the meantime i will order some spacers for the rear and lower it a lil more.

meme405 01-27-2015 07:40 PM

Okay definitely not the right thread as I did not do the install myself, but since I already posted that I would put pictures up here they are:

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...psba2aseaj.jpg

System still needs some work for sure, but it does bump.

The factory bose system in this thing is just such a POS that it is definitely the limiting factor.

EDIT: Oh and sorry for the potato pics, but better ones of the entire setup will come later.

CCA-Dave 01-27-2015 10:36 PM

More potato photos of the '58, keep leaving my camera upstairs.

- Cleaned up passenger floorboard inside, seam sealed it and added a fresh coat of paint.
- I worked on fitting the engine lid properly, and have the gaps factory fresh.
- Front hood took about 4 hours and some custom brackets, but I've got it fitting well and actually locking and unlocking. Was touch and go for a while on whether I'd have to run period-correct leather straps instead of a hood latch.
- Hood seals are in.

And then I took the passenger door from this:

to this:
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7390/...03d7cfbe_b.jpg

Six main components and seven seals make up the opening windows for the passenger door. It's a real pain to get everything in and perfect, and my hands paid the price for sure. Who needs stitches when you have crazy glue?

donjalapeno 01-28-2015 12:47 AM

You won't be disappointed.

Logos in the center still need to be painted black. Technically the wheels should have a cream center, black rim...but I might leave them all black. Tire size is wrong, will probably go with the proper 165r15.

super nice install....I'm surprised how damn hard a 10'' sub hits....i was expecting some bass, but not window shaking bass...I'm feeding 400 watts to my bestbuy MTX subwoofer inclosure with a JBL GTO601.1II amp i was pretty blown away the amount of bass it gives out,my simple set up for a pick up truck.
http://i62.tinypic.com/2wgbwhh.jpg
setting up wiring harness, taking my time,20 minutes.
http://i58.tinypic.com/11l1zih.jpg
deck & 2 pairs of speakers - paid 100 dollars on boxing day for the usb, aux,cd player waay better then the OEM junk, speakers i think i paid around 60 a set?...Clarity on them is amazing for the price.
http://i61.tinypic.com/11h9gma.jpg
Took me about 2 hours to install 2 door speakers front & back taking off the whole door & throwing out the cheap 2 watt OEM speakers that would go to crap with any amount of bass..
the deck install took about the same time also...i was learning as i was going, first install i ever did & it went clean after watching youtube videos ahead of time

meme405 01-29-2015 06:37 AM

^Nice.

I know between nothing and fuck-all about setting up a sound system, and there is so many differing opinions online, that I decided to just take the car in to get it setup. Last thing I wanted to do is set it up and blow a $500 woofer from clipping. Props to you for installing yourself.

The problem is this crappy OEM Bose system in my car, if everything was just normal, it would be easier, but the bose has two amplifiers and all this crap which makes something as simple as wiring in a sub so complicated.

I definitely need to go your route, and just yank the entire system and replace all the components with aftermarket as well. That will come next winter pretty sure.

As for the sub right now, even relatively untuned and untested, yes, she hits hard. My last experience was just a pre-built JL stealthbox in my pickup truck, and that thing pounded good for a 12, but this is just a puny little 10, and it rocks almost as hard already. Audio company's are getting really good at doing more with less. The box for my sub is only like .8 cu ft. 10 years ago that small of a box hitting this hard was unheard of.
