Where did you get the install done? Looks like you went with the HD750 like me instead of the Slash. My 10w6v3 is still sitting in the box.

Everything was purchased at soundsgood. Unfortunately their timing, and my busy schedule just didn't jive for the foreseeable future, so install was done by Performance Car Stereo in North Van. I live like 5 minutes from the shop, so it just worked out perfectly.

I was somewhat intelligent with this, as I had the 4AWG power wire for the amp pulled by SerialNine at the same time as they were pulling the independant power line for the compressors. So install by performance car stereo was pretty easy since they could just tap the existing OEM subs harness with RCA's. The only complicated bit they had to do was fabricate that bracket for the amplifier, and carpet my sub box since wicked CAS sent it un-carpeted.

Came outside today to a deflated tire and 3missing lug nuts. Decided it's time to get rid of the teal.

If anyone got some lug nuts for sale hook me up.

so. like i posted last time. i got some GSR rear seats to match my fronts for the DA. when i pulled my stock LS i found a puddle of water under them. so i had to pull the interior out to find the leak, luckily i did find it and fixed it.

while the interior was out i decided i might as well do a few things because i rather not pull it again.

first was too clean it

next up was to use this carpet i picked up

i made a new insert its aluminum/fiberglass board

i picked up some sound deadener from a friend and some foam tape

i have a few more things im doing atm also ;D but thats an update for another day

Prepped the FC and RC to go into the shop, I'm gonna have to remember where I stashed all the new parts for the RC.

Got partway through the driver's door setup today, when I discovered it's missing a window track piece I need from inside the door. Well, crap. I could tear apart a spare door for my super beetle, but those are in chilliwack. Hmph.

Managed to find an original Wolfsburg badge for the front hood, but had to make up a mounting system for it since the hood on the car is from a later year where they weren't used. A mix of VW trim parts and some 3M trim tape, and it's both on the hood and secured if the tape fails (will just rotate).

Seam-sealed and painted the inside of the pan. Replaced the fuel line, fixed the PO's incorrect mounting of the pedal set, installed an original VW headlight switch, replaced the clutch cable and adjusted the e-brake. Also sorted out a battery mount for the incorrect-sized battery (original was 6V). Discovered the clutch pedal is bent, which is annoying. They're cast, so bending it back is an issue.

Installed my 'killer stereo' setup :P. This should get some good laughs. 1958 Beetles were shipped without radios, but you could buy one at the dealer. I sold my last 50's era radio to fund another project, and I actually enjoy music when I drive, so an ipod compatible setup was needed. Enter the 150w amp I've had kicking around that I pulled from some previous car-flip...an original 50's VW speaker adapter and a sony speaker. Awwww yeah, ready for 150watts of mono sound!

Installed a cigarette lighter and the input line to the amp inside the glovebox. So the entire stereo system is 100% hidden...and I can also charge my phone.

Finished off a few things on the undercarriage, bled the brakes and then attacked the one area of the suspension I knew was bad before I bought the car. Not sure why the PO took the time to redo the passenger side, but not the driver's side...but I pulled apart both to check and confirm it was all done right. Driver's side spring plate cover was a little rotten. Check out the rot on the bolts too, they were threaded all the way up at the factory. Needless to say the car got a new cover and new hardware!

Last job for the day was tearing down a seat to see what I was going to be dealing with. I need to get both front seats to the bare frames for painting. As with everything the PO did, they're black. The frames should be the same colour as the steering wheel. I was also curious to see if I'd find some original upholstery. The black cover on the bottom is what the car came to me with. The very-not-VW cover on the top is the next layer down. Someone sure had an ugly interior in this at one point.

Under the red was the original Blue-Grey cloth upholstery. Too bad it's 57 years old, and badly perished. I do like it, however, and it's making me rethink my interior colour plans...

Brought new high compression Z engine home. After spilling oil everywhere, wondering how The F am I going to get this 500b hunk of meal out the back of the truck. B) What the F am I going to do with this 500b hunk of metal while living in an apartment. Sometimes I question my thinking. ha

Didn't get any of my own pictures, but here it is. Doesn't look all that fancy, but should be fun whenever I figure out how to plop it in there.

I don't even know if it will run on pump gas right now. It won't be a huge power house but should skoot along pretty good in the Z. Need to investigate my cam options to try and tame the compression down a little bit. Slap on the carbs, and some sort of ignition system and i'll be GTG.

I love Volkswagens. Needed to drop the engine to replace the seal which goes around the edge and back of the motor.
Car was already on axle stands, so I grabbed the needed tools: 8mm & 17mm wrench, flat bladed screwdriver, jack.
15min later the engine was on the floor under the car:

Took me a couple of hours to remove the crusty old remnants of seal, fix the seal track, and install the seals.
My back was killing me, so I decided to lie down...made a new clutch cable nut and accelerator cable guide tube.
Popped the motor back into the car, adjusted the valve train, timing and points and then started working on getting it running.
For the life of me I couldn't get fuel. Checked the lines, which were all new and fine. Dug out a new pump from my spares
and swapped that in. Still nothing. Then I realized my mistake.

Beetles with a generator use a 4.35" fuel pump rod, beetles with an alternator use a 4" fuel pump rod.
Aftermarket pumps are sold that look like generator pumps, but actually use the alternator rod.
Dug through my spares, found the proper rod and 2min later the car was running. Did a quick tune, but will do a
full carb tune during the day when people are away at work.

Getting close to having just the bumpers to align and finishing up the interior!
The brake pedal feels like crap, but I've bled the life out of it
(using a full 1.5L of fluid). I suspect it's just me trying to compare the RallyBug brake pedal to a '50's car with drum brakes.
Gotta drive it to see how it really feels.

Met up with an Element Owners Club member to roll my rear fenders in preparation for lowering on coils.

First some doge for lulz

Rolling fenders are a two-part procedure on an Element, involving the unclipping of the outer plastic fenders and rolling the inside metal lip as usual, then clipping the outer plastic fender back on and cutting about 2cm off of the inner plastic lip.
