Took my gas tank guard off for extra clearance going over speedbumps. Big mistake, instead of scraping on the metal gas tank guard, I scraped on Honda's ingenious design of a plastic super low centre-mounted fuel tank on my Element. So the guard is going back on tomorrow. Would rather be scraping on metal than plastic

Plastic tanks are one of the rare uses of plastics in modern vehicles that actually makes sense. Metal fuel tanks often rust from the inside out, due to condensation accumulation. ...but yes, removing the metal guard wasn't a smart idea!

Got an alignment done. Not worried about camber, my tires were just over $300.

Since I don't have a camber kit in the rear, the shop says the imbalance of the camber between the two rear wheels may be due to worn trailing arm bushings, although I just put in new Skunk2 LCAs so it shouldn't be control arms.

Also my left front inner tie rod bolt is seized, therefore they were unable to adjust my toe so it's sitting in quite a bad position

Been in and out of the shop so many times trying to dial in ride height an alignment settings these past few days.

Motor is back in the rally bug, and took it out this weekend to tune the carbs. Wow that car is a lot of fun, definitely shouldn't have taken Dec/Jan off from it! The whole time, however, the clutch was feeling a little funny. Once back in the garage I figured out why:

So, a quick phone call to AVR Parts, and the clutch cable arrived in a group of goodies this morning. In a stock beetle the job is maybe 30min, in the rally bug it took just over an hour due to the Porsche transmission swap. After seeing the window-regulator post above I figured this weekend it was time to deal with the failing regulator in my driver's door. Had to strip almost the whole door down, the window regulator is the first part installed into the door on assembly.

Also put the summer tires on, made some rear suspension adjustments and checked all the wheel bearings. Then I moved onto the Coupe quattro project, and within a short period of time was ready to throw wrenches across the shop. This is one of the fuel line pieces I had to make which is a combination of factory line and adapters to -AN fittings.

The feed line to the fuel rail is going to be a problem, I might be able to flare and adapt it as the line above, but it's a one-shot deal. If it doesn't work, or I muck the flare up on first try (a strong possibility with metric tubing and AN flares), the fuel rail is garbage. So, instead I dropped a fitting of at a buddies to see if he can't machine up the solution I suggested. I seriously just want to finish this car already...

-Dave

yes sir.. but good luck finding them, whister told me there was a good chance i got the last set available in 16 4x100 for a few months

they contacted their last few vendors they distribute thru and only 1 had 1 set in, everywhere else was sold out of the 16's, lots of 15 and 17 though

i actually had a huge headache with another company that took my money and a few days later let me know they didnt have them.. then it took 5 business days to get my money back thru visa refund

front pads/rotors
it's only been maybe 15k since they were last greased and the caliper pins were nearly seized. Hopefully this will remedy the vibration at high speed braking that I've been getting lately.

Pulled the supercharger off the Civic.

Lots of oil sitting in the intake ports, so this may explain my oil burning issues. The charger will be heading to California for a rebuild and new rotors. (unless someone here knows a place locally that rebuilds Eaton chargers?).

Try to start it.

...

It started.

but i was too sick to go anywhere so went back in and slept.

after a bit decided to finally put my work lugs on. Sadly the blue on the work lugs didn't match the colour of the volk blue valve stem.
