My 18 year old starter was acting funny and weak so I did a half rebuild. Got new contacts and plunger.

Also prettied it up with paint.

I pulled the Matrix apart today and finally hardwired the dashcam to a hidden outlet, while I had things apart I reflowed the solder on the OEM clock and wired in an aux input adapter for the OEM radio. You have to turn the volume up a bit higher than for CD's or the radio but for the price I can't complain. Now I'm just waiting on a female - female 3.5mm adapter so I can connect up the plug to make it look fully OEM.

Ghetto power steering flush.

Pretty simple. Buy 4 bottles of power steering fluid - Honda branded for my TL and civic. Buy a $1 Turkey baster from dollar store. Buy a $1 funnel from Walmart. Get some towels/rags. Get an old 2L pop Bottle.

Open reservoir cap...suck out fluid with baster till reservoir is empty....dump old fluid into pop bottle. ...dump in new fluid into reservoir. ...close cap...go for drive...maybe wait 2 days. Repeat process...until you notice fluid is clear in reservoir. It makes an immediate difference in steering wheel feel even on the first ghetto flush. And of course take your time....fluids are messy. So wipe up any mess.

OR...spend $120+ at dealership.

failed because of where the plate is now. just take it out of the car. you're still going to get a ticket for having it in the window and you run the risk of impaling your passenger in an accident.

Watched someone back into it.

God I hate drivers in this city. Second time i've watched someone back into my car while "parking by brail." First time my new Acura, now just today the Datsun. God dammit it. It's light, but for fucks sake, thats not how you drive people!!! I think I scared the poor woman, she drove away.

I think I may pull the bumper riders from my bumpers, and install spikes. Maybe people will start getting the point when they drive away with holes in their bumpers from their stupid moves.

The ticket for an improperly mounted plate is higher than the ticket for no plate as well.

To dispel worries, this is where it is right now

Also swapped my orange side turn signals for clear Cooper S ones.

Washed it.

Waxed with turtle wax ice spray wax.
This was recommended by a friend.
Worked great.

One of the summers that came with the Matrix has a leak, so instead of paying to swap the replacement tires on we figured it was easier to just swipe the brand new summers from the Celica GTS that I bought ages ago but only put a few thousand k on so far.

With the suspension decompressed the roof line is nearly as high as the Cherokee you can see behind it I also learned that there's so much room it could easily fit much larger diameter tires for the winter if need be.

As long as you find the right wires, splice in your new wires to the glove box and away you go. If you really want to get fancy you could wire in a motion sensor.
