Today me and le GF went to the shop to clean the NSX before I send it in for OOP...

Well, next thing you know we start chasing some wires back...

There is still more to come out... now that it's all apart, were cleaning the chassis lol

This all leaves me to decide if now is the time to convert the entire interior over to Black/Red using mainly OEM parts $$$$$ I could go all black but was thinking red leather seats with perforated inserts and matching perforated inserts in the door cars....

Do you feel any difference for the Motul? Never had Motul in any of my cars before but heard good things about it and there are ppl who thinks it's overrated too.

You're probably on Map 2 since you've got an exhaust as well?
No, I don't feel any difference with Motul. Its probably not worth it. Haha that's a sick deal for the oil though.

Map 5 for me. Autotuning seems to give the best results. Shouldn't that be the default for everyone?

Christmas came early for me

After the excitement subside I notice the corner(s) of the bumper got de-form a little bit.
Spoiler!

Good thing the bumper is made out of poly-plastic i was able to reform it via heat gun

That sucked.

Spent the day swapping to stock pads for winter, except that turned into a fucking nightmare. Rear caliper pistons had melted dust boots and were seized... Even with the correct tool to twist them back. A lot of penetrating oil and brute force and I got them turned back in.

Went to do the front and found out front right caliper is almost seized solid. Pad is down to the backing plate, said pad was installed in ~August, barely has two track days on it. (left side pad has ~40% remaining) Oh yeah, dust seals are completely gone, pistons are cracked from the heat and there are signs that the pad has caught on fire at some point. (I'm looking at you Mission...) guess that smoke wasn't just hot brakes... Woops.

Replaced the front rotors as well. Tired, back is sore from lying on concrete all day, and frustrated. Will post pics of pads and rotors tomorrow...

I said it a while ago, but an auto v6 mustang is not built to be tracked... I fear that you're gonn keep running into issues like this.

Hope you can get it sorted quickly. Time to do a big brake swap?

Reminds me of my friend's Fiesta ST after a track day at Mission,
I gave him my stock rotors but he had to buy new calipers

Well when we discussed this last time, we concluded the V6 and the GT have identical systems except the engine (obviously) and the the transmission has a different bellhousing, it would seem the only short coming is the base model brakes as i've found, especially considering the same engine is used in the Ginetta over in Europe, I think it's more than suited to tracking LOL

I'm not certain your measure of track worthiness, considering the aforementioned auto v6 mustang has passed more than a few E92 M3's, Cayman S', Z28 Camaro's with Carbon Ceramic brakes etc.

I think taking any car with the base braking setup (short of a P car or the like) to more than a couple track days (of course upgrading fluid and pads) and pushing the car will have a similar issue.

i'm not certain measuring a cars track worthiness should be based on a HPDE with varying levels of skill involved.

but as to provide some useful feedback- look into titanium backing plates to help prolong the life of your dust seals

as for the pad down to the backing plate, that's just laziness

Keep in mind that he has a crazy amount of KMs for the year, as he drives a lot. Its really just a combination of regular wear and tear along with accelerating it from track days. Throw that in with some dumb bad luck and things like this can happen on any car. I'm sure the car is as capable as most.

Yeah ~71000km's is a bit much for a 2014 lol.

I agree on the other points, but no, that's not laziness, that's a mechanical problem (seizing caliper dragging the pad). After the last track day @ ORP on August 16th, the pads were eyeballed at about 50% tread- plenty for daily driving. Would you expect a pad to go from 50% to 0% in ~ 5,000km?

----

Look, let me sum it up like this;

It may not be a "track" car, it may just be a v6 auto mustang" but at least I track it. I'm looking at all the people with big brake kits, r compounds, racing seats, harnesses, that use them to drive to market crossing every thursday.

I think it's better when someone tracks an auto Corolla rather than having a 911 GT3RS that sits in the garage and gets driven to restaurants.

Installed Manic Stage 2 software on my GP last week. Pulls like a freight train and pops and bangs like crazy. I really want to dyno it and see how much power it makes.

Right. So you don't need a driver mod. But I bet their brakes didn't melt.

I think you need to get a vanity plate like "V6 AUTO" or something before the next track day to really rub it in when you pass them.

I'm seriously tempted. I wonder if it's available...

Though the reaction after people go "I had no idea a Mustang could handle" in the paddock, then finding out that's it's a V6 on top of that is truly hilarious.
