Use HIDs as DRLs? You wouldn't want to use your HIDs as DRLs as running those bulbs at a reduced voltage will damage the bulb and the ballast and essentially everything related to them. Not seeing the connection here...

To be fair, most new vehicles, particularly German vehicles, have insanely bright LED DRLs, which simply dim when the in-most-cases HID low beams turn on. It's not really the brightness of the Cree LEDs that concern me, as much as how the reflector setup is optimized for a high beam pattern that shoots light into the skies, whereas cars that actually came from factory with LED DRLs, at least the ones I'm aware of, usually have the LED DRLs setup in a strip format that isn't done in a reflector housing.

With that being said, I've seen a lot of LEDs stuck into reflector housings as DRLs, even supposedly ultra bright Cree bulbs, and pretty much every vehicle I've seen with LED DRLs retrofitted have the actual light intensity significantly dimmer than any incandescent setup. Reflector housings will never be able to properly distribute light from anything but an incandescent halogen bulb. So I will leave you with the benefit of doubt that it is in fact the camera not being able to capture the true intensity of the LED DRL.

In the spirit of Christmas, made a Santa with ringing bells, to put on top of my car.

Will post a pic of the entire car later in better weather.

Pretty sure he means if you want brighter DRLs just turn your lights on. You found a way to make it quite complicated though LOL.

Started the tear down today... Driveshaft out, exhaust off. Pulling the diff and axles next. Gonna leave the hubs on for the next owner to deal with lols more hassle than its worth since I'm just stripping down the car anyways. Everything off my turbo Miata is up for grabs!

Just changed the front springs on the e92 for Eibach Sportlines that have a pretty aggressive drop.. From what I remember my friends e90 328i was tucking a bit of tire. After installing it I'm still at a 1.5 finger gap aha, awd sucks. My axle also kinda fell out when I was installing it, which was also gay. And on top of that, I had to compress the springs around 4 inches to just be able to get the top hats back on, and the eibachs are already about 4 or 5 inches shorter than stock. It was ridiculous with the crappy portable spring compressor things I had, took forever to get it all back together. On the bright side, they ride practically like stock since my stock awd suspension was already stiff as hell. I guess I don't need a slammed car for winter, still kinda disappointing though

Most of those who have LED DRL's, tend not to use bulbs such as those ones he posted which are MEANT to be actual headlights. Usually when those bulbs are put in even halogen projectors or even reflectors they arent glaring because they are aimed somewhat low, but when you add LED's that have the brightness of actual headlights combined with a reflector that is meant for high beams then thats when you start to get blinding issues.

Mine are rated for 400lm and thats more than enough for DRL duties. I highly doubt his are actually 4800lm cause thats prob ebay rating but those are still high powered bulbs for headlights which is still equivalent of at least 3000 probably.

Unless of course it is like he says, and the LEDs are in fact running a decreased voltage draw because he did not pull his DRL fuse since he did say the high beams still function.

I was always under the impression that running anything that's not incandescent (LED, HID) as DRLs under reduced voltage will damage the bulb. I know for sure that is the case with HID, but don't LEDs also have difficulty running at reduced voltage/brightness?

All you folks with two or three headlight bulbs in each headlight assembly, so jealous lol. I only have one (albeit projector retrofitted) headlight bulb that serves as high and low beam, had to pull my DRL fuse when I initially installed the HIDs so they wouldn't run on reduced voltage draw. Wired up my fogs independently, stuck in Nokya yellow bulbs and yellow Lamin-x, not exactly bright but hella tite JDM yo, so whenever I start the car I turn on my fogs haven't bothered wiring them to turn on automatically whenever I start the car.

I don't get the point of bright DRLs or even low beams, your high beams should be the only thing you make much brighter.

I like brighter low beams as long as it's aimed correctly haha, it's nice to have better visibility at night without having to use your high beams

not quite ready to do the wheels yet....but experimented with plastidip 'pearlizer'...

here I sprayed 2 light layers of pearlizer over black dip. yielded a very metallic silver. Will be applying pearlizer to anthracite grey dip to lighten the darkness of the grey.

Yup, fake it till I make it. Even if I was stupidly rich, I'd still thinking spending $250 for a damn horn button is idiotic.

I got it printed at Shapeways. I made it available so anyone can order it from them.

Had my grill plasti-dipped by PandaDog.

Tbh, I was skeptical about plasti-dip as it can cause a car to look cheap many of the times, especially on large surfaces such as a 2G TSX grill. Initially, I wanted it vinyl-wrapped in gloss back, but he assured me that he his work can yield similar results. Very happy with it.

Shoot him a PM for quality work!

And yes I know, I need to get rid of that license plate frame lol
