Took out all the floor mats, and all season mats as well..
Didn't have time to clean and wash them.. but vacuumed inside and out of the entire interior..
Any product recommendations to keep the car overall smell naturally new-er?

I'm a bit of a DIY'er but decided to get a 'dealer oil change' simply to address some warranty related items at the same time.
Very impressed by Richmond Acura... they did a great job addressing 2 warranty items AND proactively replaced my battery (under warranty) because it failed the load test... I had no clue my battery was not performing. I'm pretty sure they know I'll be trading in this RDX for another ACURA in 3yrs.
and the big bonus was that I got to boot around in the V6 TLX as a loaner...
dat pushbutton gear box tho...
I always wonder how does it work with a newer car w/ warranty if your DIY'er . Let say oil change do you just keep the receipt for the oil and filter and when something happens to the motor that qualifies for the warranty.Do you just show the reciept to the dealer? I can see the dealer giving the person/diy'er a hard time covering the warranty
I decided to change the spark plugs as preventative maintenance since I do not know when they were changed last (if ever). I did some research and the guys on clublexus said it was a piece of cake. I have never done a spark plug job before and boy was I in for a bit of a surprise. I also decided to clean out the MAF and throttle body, since I was in there anyways.
(PS I used carb cleaner with some shop towels for the job)
As I was cleaning the throttle body valve I noticed that there was a thin layer of oil inside the throttle body. Decided it would be fun to crack open the bad boy and take a look.
The spark plugs on the driver's side were a PITA. The first plug I tried to pull out had the spark plug boot seized to the wall. I ended up ripping the boot a little bit trying to extract the damn thing!
Plug #3 was particularly dirty. The socket hole had some crud around it and it took some ingenuity to figure out a good solution due to the clearance issues. I whipped out the dental picks to dry and scrape some of the crud out but it wasn't effective.
What I ended up doing was taking an extension, tieing a small piece of shop towel via elastic band, and spraying some carb cleaner to the said shop towel. The results were pretty good!
After the plugs were all pulled out and replaced, I fired up the car and it started ok.
When I drove it the next day, I noticed the idle was quite high, around 1400 rpm vs. the usual 700 rpm once warmed up. I went on Google and people suggested checking all of the vacuum hoses and the throttle cable. Everything checked out fine. At this point I was a bit nervous.
I figured that since the amount of air coming into the TB was going to be a bit more, and with the introduction of new spark plugs the ECU may be simply trying to adjust to the new parts. I adopted that idea and drove the car around the block a few times and then the CEL came on. At this point I had a mini heart attack.
I decided to pull the battery for 30 min so that the ECU will be reset. While I was waiting I rechecked all my connections and they were ok.
Plugged the battery back up and it started up fine. Drove the car all day and no CEL and no high idle! Mission success! (knock on wood)

This weeks accomplishments...
Rally Bug
- Installed Blackvue camera system front and rear, all wiring hidden. Don't really 'need' one in Squamish, but my theory is if I'm ever in an accident no one is going to believe the guy in the race-beetle was driving responsibly...so I'll need it.
- Completed a bumper to bumper check, and started on the list...
- Inspected, cleaned and Rebuilt (where necessary) the Eberspacher Gas Heater. These have an unfairly earned reputation for being dangerous, they aren't...but do need to be maintained like any other gas-burning device.
- After four years of adding this and that to the car, I finally stripped it down and cleaned up all the electrical.
- Continued work on the Hydraulic clutch conversion
- Pulled apart the defrost blower motor, confirmed my problem (worn bushing) is not serviceable. Repaired it as best as possible....will look for a new one.
- Tore apart RR suspension, broken Kafer bar (brace) found, and repairs started.
- Removed transmission mounts, swore at the designer for 3 days, finally remembered why I designed them that way and in 40min had new mounts fabricated and back in the car.
- Installed new rally intercom, upgraded to an FM-120.
- New Peltor military intercom headsets arrived, rewired the plugs and now my car has noise-cancelling headsets. Should be even nicer than my standard units.
- Repaired worn seat bolsters
- Discovered the co-driver at my last rally bent the co-driver footrest into a potato-chip. Guess he really was worried about that one section of road through the trees!
The MK1 Escort Rally
- Welcome to the world of nothing fits the first time...
- Sorted the issues with the front brake kit. Will need to mill the brake caliper mounts down and re-drill new holes in the spindles for cotter pins.
- Dropped the car on it's wheels for the first time in 6 months, started mocking up the engine and transmission install.
- Trans temporary mount in place, RS engine mount fabricated and tacked in.
- Cut up a bunch of car to fit the exhaust.
- Sorted out driver position, started on the steering column mounts.

Id like to grab a case of beer, a pizza and just watch what goes on in your shop for a while. haha. Lots of progress!
Took off bumper to chop up for Intercooler + test fitted front summers setup before repaint, gonna drop down 10-20 in tire width. Also reloaded tune to see how bad the clutch slips. Hoping to be ready for drift day in June.
I couldnt find the red needles so i just did the red marker mod
This one was pretty nerve wracking removing the orange led and replacing it with the white leds via solder :bulge:
The first 2 was a struggle but once i got the hang of it it was smooth sailing
Tweezer is your best friend in this mod.lol
Had to go straight to the car to test out the leds to see if i did it right or fried the circuit board :bulge:
AND I felt like i leveled up in this electrical thanggg.
The most troublesome part of the mod is at the end (of course) when you put the needles back.
Had to do a couple of tries. Troublesome because when i pulled one of the needle out it flung out and played hide and seek with me for almost an hour
How's the fitment? I'm thinking of ordering from them.
Hella late reply but just installed it.
Fitment was on point initially which was surprising for an OEM rep lip. One thing I noticed is that after driving for a bit there's a tiny gap under the front left below the license plate which wasn't there when I installed the lip. I think i'll try getting a heatgun and remolding the lip a bit tomorrow. Any other advice rs?
@Jackpot. That looks amazing. I want to do something similar to my 3 but i'm afraid of the soldering part

Escort work this weekend:
Spoiler!
With the left-side engine mount tacked in, I started working on the right-side engine mount. Of course, after making a sweet RS mount, I decided to cut out my original LS mount and make an all new one. Both mounts are tacked in and ready for welding to the chassis:
A bit dark, sorry:
And now the engine and transmission come out, again, so that the welding can be completed on the engine mounts and I can seal up all the un-needed holes in the firewall.
My buddy Chris stopped by for some time with the angle grinder. He's cutting out the driver's footwell that the previous owners welded in as it doesn't clear the engine & exhaust manifold we're now using.
No photos of the beetle work. I've basically pulled the entire rear suspension of the car, checked it and rebuilt it where necessary. Interestingly enough the rear springs have settled at differing heights, but a buddy just happened to have the exact set I needed in _my_ storage unit. Yoink! Beetle is the side-project at the moment, otherwise it would have been back on the road in January.
Put in these kick panels a couple weeks back with some Craigslist speakers but they ended up being blown. So I picked up some new ones and tossed them in. Looks good to me.
