After seeing it in the flesh now i understand.lol
At 105k km - 65k miles

joquio 02-26-2016 10:46 PM

My 135i is at 68k km now. You think I should do the walnut blasting now? Or can I wait till I'm closer to 100k km?

jackp0t 02-26-2016 11:45 PM

According to the consensus It starts at 30k miles (50k km)
I think you should look into walnut blasting aswell

Do you feel any random shaky or rough or a sudden drop in idle?

Tq 02-27-2016 04:48 PM

Tried to put on my Winters today, yes I know it's pretty much March they should be called "Springs"... but my 140 treadwear Federal 595 RSR aren't liking all the km's I've been putting on em and they're terrible in the rain. The winters are Pirelli Sottozeros, not too many choices in this low profile/narrow 17" size (205/40-17) but I've seen decent reviews on them. I got a screaming deal on these including the plastidipped stockers anyways so I can't complain regardless.

Rears went on no problem but the front lug nuts wouldn't come off as the 19mm socket wouldn't fit over the front nuts. Apparently the OEM 19mm chrome Ford nuts that I've been using have a tendency to swell up.

Some of you may know my car was left at Brown Bros for about 2.5 months for a new tranny and I can't help but suspect their techs may have something to do with it. Guessing they overtorqued the fronts or used a 12 pt socket and left the rears untouched. I've tracked the car twice with these lug nuts and never had any issues with them.

I'm going to see how well a 20mm socket will fit over it but I'll have to do that tomorrow as I don't have any other tools at my new apartment. A buddy of mine that's a tech at Ford said that this happens a lot and they usually just hammer on the 19mm and it'll come off. There's a chrome cap on the nuts and that is the part that swells up, you can cut it off to expose the 18mm nut underneath but I don't want to risk damaging my Team Dynamics so I'll just try my other options first.

Was recommended McGard lug nuts for something that can take a fair bit of abuse, car is a 12x1.5 so it's a pretty common nut thread pitch. Anything else you guys suggest I take a look at? I don't really want something like Mutekis or Rays as they seem a bit too precious to be taking an impact to.

hud 91gt 02-27-2016 09:27 PM

Can't you try a SAE socket? Might be enough of a difference to slipping without going to a 20mm. Hammering is also an option, I mean they're buggered anyhow.

dared3vil0 02-27-2016 09:36 PM

Urghh I just dealt with the same thing tonight. I could get the 13/16th socket on, but once the lug was removed I had to grab a screwdriver and knock the lug out of the socket...

Also, new wheels wrapped in PSS are on! Ignore the 4x4, it's still partially on the jack lmao.

ilvtofu - a 3/4" is just a hair bigger than a 19mm, might be worth trying to get that on or at least use that socket to beat onto the ruined lugs so you're not damaging the 19mm for later use.

KDMofo 02-28-2016 01:33 PM

Testing colours for my summer setup.
Also my turbo finally blew so car is parked until I save up enough for evox turbo conversion and a new clutch.

Opted to do some weight reduction on the car. Why go carbon fibre when throwing parts out is cheaper and easier?

:troll:

Nah, had to redo the wiring harness between the door and body. Stupid Honda/Acura wiring design causes the wires to crack and pull out of the plug.

With maintenance out the way now the fun part :awwyeah:

Vulgate 03-04-2016 03:17 AM

All I can say good job to take on all this. I am more afraid to work on the BMW because everything is just so much more expensive to fix when something goes wrong compared a Japanese car. But good on you doing everything hands on.
