rinsed off the car, vacuumed the engine bay and interior, went for a quite drive around the block. White smoking coming from the engine..fuuuu |
Fresh spark plugs and coils went in today into the 330i. Engine runs significantly smoother and not as noisy (which I believe is due to my temporary used coil I used while waiting for my new parts to arrive). |
cleaned the shit out of my truck after these guys where filthy...... But they are so damm cute so its OK ! https://s28.postimg.org/oax7w8mgd/16...37651642_o.jpgimage ru |
It was easier than I thought! Spoiler! |
Nice job. ^^^ Spent about 10-14 hours bending fuel lines. Fitting 3/8" lines where 5/16" and 3/16" lines use to be can be challenging. I had to drill out the crumbling old rubber mounts and hope for the best. New mounts would have been nice, but I would have had to drill them out too. I really should have done this when the engine and transmission were out. I ended up pulling the whole rear drivetrain, and suspension except the struts themselves to get better access. Parking brake cables disconnected too. Under the car is complete, and about 50% done the engine bay. Slow process. I should wash the undercoating to see if it actually burns black?? http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/o...47_Burst05.jpg http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/o...217_120634.jpg |
Replaced my blackvue DR3500-FHD with DR650GW. hid the wiring from the rear cam along the top headliner and through the A-pillar. pretty clean install...for a DIY. the 3500 was already hardwired via the PMP so I just used the same power source to the 650. works great. http://i.imgur.com/zKXVont.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YKmuOXA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ke0xUbO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/94ytwmX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GXiPdOZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YCWzyRh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YikE25O.jpg sample footage: may need more tweaking for video settings (switch youtube to HD for better quality ) rear: |
was bored on sunday and decided to figure out a use for my old 'almost dead' DR380G dashcam and so it is now a in-cabin dashcam. mic is dead so it doesn't record sound. looks pretty grainy on dark days but its meant for in-cabin only. |
Does RS have a vinyl wrap sponsor? Or can someone recommend a vinyl wrap shop or person? I want to get my roof wrapped on my STI. Yes I have searched the forum, not much comes up. |

Doing a bit of pre-spring cleaning on the 996. Got rid of the console ashtray and installed a cubby. Clean, easy quick little job. Awesome. http://i.imgur.com/9om5Z4z.jpg Pulled off the front bumper and air scoops to pull the condensers off the radiators and clean out all the crap that's gotten lodged in there over the years. Wheel well liners broke apart on disassembly, bolts frozen that needed to be ground off. Nasty, messy, PITA job. Awesome. The picture does NOT do justice to the grossness. http://i.imgur.com/pKAPK9J.jpg |
I classed up the Rolla today. Removed the hideous Jim Pat front plate holder and installed these awesome metal MCL ones. I apologise to MCL for defamation of their brand but it does add a touch of class to this plebian appliance of excellence. http://imgpost.me/img/XDm70oX/sketch-1487788195881.png http://imgpost.me/img/zSUBIw9/sketch-1487788126061.png All I need now are those faux gold plated emblems they had in the 90s |

after a little over a month driving my aristo that I bought at the end of december I went over my usual maintenance items whenever I buy a car. changed: synthetic engine oil, transmission fluid, diff fluid, power steering fluid, serp belt, plug wires To my surprise despite running so well I got a bit of a surprise when I decided it was time to do the plugs and some of the gaskets. I was expecting some usual wear and tear given it's a turbo motor and over 100K but this was a little bit more than that. pulled the plug cover off to find a bunch of the hoses crumbling but rtv'd together, coil pack connectors broken, absolutely shitty plugs and valve covers literally loose and leaking oil. Going through it all I lucky I did it when I did, also found I should be doing the t belt soon too looks to have a bit of oil on it. Took a couple pics but now too many given I wanted the car done: take apart: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdnrbqeq5.jpg shitty plugs... shitty picture: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscybi1eg4.jpg one of the rtv'd hoses: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps5n88m2uo.jpg bit of a mess: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps0xamgu5u.jpg back together: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pskrmd27yo.jpg |
Changed out the IACV which kept giving me horrendous surging idle issues, won't idle at 1500rpm anymore  Also ran a comp test, 175psi on all 4 cylinders, pretty impressed considering the motor has nearly 340k of non-granny-like driving. K motors are tanks. |
Got the k20 back from Garage5 on the weekend and started to install several MR2 friendly parts for the swap. Creating a build thread in the next couple of days. http://i.imgur.com/ftppVoHl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UVZ5rCBl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0NP5bLfl.jpg |
Let the Evo sit for 6 months, now I get to find out if I killed the battery or I can still save it. http://i.imgur.com/OFHAGcl.jpg |
I love the CTEK charger , I have the exact one. Works wonders |
http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/o...301_123654.jpg Headed out to Langley U blast and blasted my rear suspension and a bunch of mounts. Proceeded to bend 3 hours worth of fuel lines.... Straight into the garbage. Can that ever be frustrating argh. Zero advancement today on those. I've realized I need to have eaten within 2 hours of doing that kind of work and then need to stop. As soon as I get slightly hungry patience goes out the window. lol |
Swapped out my old ST coils for a Billstein Sport kit. With 385k on this TDI, these Bills will get me to my goal of 500k on this car before I replace it. |
Spent 2 hours trying to get a single bushing out of my freshly blasted control arms. Said screw it after I had three more to go. Buying new adjustable ones online (TechnoToyTuning). Was contemplating this from the get go... Ah well. I tried to be stubborn lol. https://technotoytuning.com/sites/de...?itok=9X0PhxZ3 After that frustration, set up the old paint booth in the apartment again to paint the rest of the stuff. #tenantfromhell but #mylandlordlovesme (Don't worry, I was brushing on POR15. No plastic booth required) http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/o...305_155554.jpg |
Got new tires. Decided to cheap out and get really cheap chinese tires. Total mounted and balanced was $380 out the door. Will be testing them out this week in this weather but so far they do really well in the wet but a little bit of slush and it feels sketchy. |
If you feel the sidewalls, they are paper thin compared to Bridgestone or Michelin. LITERALLY 25% as thick - a tire tech |
Honestly, i dont believe what the media has to say. I see a lot of negativity towards chinese tires from the media but that is towards anything chinese. For the price for brand new tires, I'm willing to try. Came with 60,000km warranty as well. |
Finally got around to swapping to 4 wheel disc and have my NSX calipers back on. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/K7...=w1689-h950-no That clearance LOL https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/U9...g=w535-h950-no |
