Warning Pic Heavy (in Spoiler): 2 days before RS Spring Meet, I got an invitation to roll in with the M3s, that meant I had 1 day to prep.
I had to do a full detail (only ended up washing) to get all of the road grime/salt off that wouldn't come off. My lip mounts on the bumper broke, so I had to figure out how to plastic weld (I ended up using bondic and it worked pretty well). My carbon fiber lip split so I had to figure out how to put that back together (also used bondic, should have used fiberglass and resin, but I ran out of time).
Apple Cider Vinegar did wonders for removing road salt.
Spoiler!
I was skeptical about this stuff and was more inclined to use a soldering iron and zip ties to plastic weld. Luckily it did it's job.
This is what the mounting point is supposed to look like
This was my ghetto winter temp fix. I was just going to get a new bumper. I still want to revert to the M-technik 2 bumper the car is supposed to come with.
This is specifically what I had to fix.
Applying bondic
Bondic instantly cures, so I didn't have to hold it or anything.
This is the good lip
Shredded lip, never buying CF aero for a daily.
Bondic works well as a filler, but not so much as an adhesive. This was my attempt at filling in the space for the lip. Evidently didn't work as you'll see in the next pic.
Test fit: Bad lip, good mount. Also applied the apple cider vinegar.
Test fit: Good lip, broken mount. Did not apply apple cider vinegar.
This is after cleaning the shift knob on the first two passes. Gross.
Grateful for my buddy for having me over so I have a wrenching buddy LOL.
The finished product was a lot more surprising than I ever thought it'd be. I even woke up late at 8:00, had to do a quick wash in 90 minutes, and get to the pre-meet location.
Also looking for pics of my car at the Spring Meet (was parked next to the Alpina B7 and red e46 m3 [not jpark's - he's not here]). All in all, I'm happy my car is presentable again. But I also have to drive a lot more carefully since I'm way lower again with the lips mounted, and so much more easily recognizable.

I've got to wait until the car is officially posted...but much of my week has been helping finish the Escort project I was working on. Did the string alignment on it this morning, and by afternoon we were working on the graphics package.
Damn thing has more power than the Rally Bug, Warwick pulled away from me going up to Brohm Lake. Lol, future "I built a bigger motor today" post coming...

So when can we swing by and see the garage? Your next project should be an xr4ti with a cosworth kit on it and ford 2.3 turbo w/ the Volvo twin cam head on it.... that’s my dream anyways

Visited my old car at the 'garage of random shit' to see if it would start. Obviously it didn't. Note the last time it's been on the road.
- New battery. Was on special so I got it for $115
- Fresh 91 gas
- Only had to inflate one tire (dropped 10psi but the others stayed the same)
Car started right up loud and un-sleeper like which was perfect. Everything seemed to work and no leaks. Car is covered in dust and spider webs. Hard to believe it looked like this at one point...
Yeah, it's annoying that I have to reset everything, but I don't want the airbag to go off on me if I fuck up.
I was hesitating until the seller convinced me as he removed a lot of Mazda steering wheels without disconnecting the battery, as long as the key is removed.

I did read somewhere that a guy who was working on his Honda Accord got killed by the airbag. Granted, it was a Takata airbag and the guy was whacking the inside of his car with a hammer(for some reason), I am not taking any risks.
I don't usually bother disconnecting the battery doing minor wiring work, though, since there is no real danger.
Alignment is done. Here is a pic of the steering wheel with the airbag in place, it's a lot better than the OEM one.
For reference, if you drive an 3rd Gen(NC) Miata, this is what it will look like with the AutoExe steering wheel(S2 RX-8 uses the same steering wheel).
There was another RX-8 that got to the dealer right before me... On a tow truck. Hopefully it just flooded and needs some ignition tuneup.
The dealer also semi-trolled me as they got the alignment finished right as I got home by taxi. Luckily, the taxi didn't leave so I was able to get a ride back. Guess I shouldn't complain, and they are the one paying for the taxi rides anyway.

Installed a back up camera, changed the oil, drain & fill the transmission fluid, vacuumed the whole dam car (even under the floor mats and I was surprised on how much dust there was. Yes I have OCD) and polished the head lights (front bumper paint peeling is actually shitty plasti dip job to preserve the paint since I do long commutes). I still need to do a spark plugs on this car and I am not looking forward to that...
