Haven't done it to my car yet. Still waiting for trans/engine mounts, diff/subframe mounts. Might just do trans/engine first. Here's a teaser of what's being put in.

I want to order one for the RS but they’re like €1000 and I just can’t justify it. Absolute sex to shift though

CCA-Dave 12-12-2018 03:48 PM

yeesh. A thousand euros?! I thought my $900usd shifter in the Rally Bug was decadent :P

I think he's planning to win that Gillette contest to recoup some of his money.

:troll:

BIC_BAWS 12-12-2018 05:12 PM

That was $712 CAD shipped.

Really this is more of “what I did to my vehicle in the last 6 months”.

Pulled the diff, ready to reinstall LSD
Put in 220v and extra 110v outlets in garage
Put new welder in its home.
Put drill press and chop saw in its home.
If you have a keen eye, new Haltech PS2000 on bench to replace MS2.
Built, modified, rebuilt remodified workbenches to fit in space. Almost ready to replace with a welding table. Lol
Keeping eye open for used bandsaw and disc sander.

Most of my focus has been getting the garage together. Now that that’s almost done time to focus back on the car.

imp_squared 12-12-2018 11:42 PM

so much space in that garage compared to mine. BibleThump

Reeyal 12-13-2018 05:29 AM

And so clean...

It’s just a tandem townhouse garage, but the end pictured is quite wide (I think 14’, obviously great for a workbench). The Datsun is also tiny. Ha.

My three car shop is becoming a four car shop tonight...but not by expanding the building. Gonna be a tight winter inside!

Your shop looks great, now back to the car mods!

A few sets of those wheel dollies would be a great addition to the Tetris game if you have a smooth floor!

CCA-Dave 12-13-2018 08:53 AM

I need to grind and paint my floor, I've had $3k in epoxy paint in storage but haven't found two weeks at home in the summer to do it! Dollies would help for sure, but I'm not spending the money for GoJacks...and once you've used genuine gojacks, you understand why it's a waste of money to buy anything else.

I did own a set of four Princess Auto wheel dollies, I gave them to Rocket Rally because they sucked even on a smooth floor. At least they had a crew that could push cars to get them to roll :P

hud 91gt 12-13-2018 02:14 PM

GoJacks, I had to google. Those look great.

As for the floor, I’m know you know this but prep that floor properly! The paint on my floor is just the Home Depot waterbased epoxy. Ran out of time to prep, so just painted over what was already on there with the cheap stuff. It’s actually pretty tough, until it gets wet. Haha.

Decided to open up some storage boxes and get to porting my turbo manifold. Found the turbo before making it to the manifold. Bought this thing in the dark before I knew what I was doing (still don’t). Never looked at it close. I’d say I got hosed. Haha. Took it apart. For magical devices these things sure are simple. Question is, is it worth rebuilding with a billet wheel, or find a used turbo? I don’t plan on spending $1500 on a new turbo right now. It’s an HX35

I don’t know anything about turbos, so I’m hesitant to say it’s useable. The compressor housing has a few little nicks but I should be able to easily sand them out.

God damn I’m jealous. CAE shifter depends on where, but i usually see £949 + VAT + shipping + duty. At that price I might as well keep it oem until it blows and put in the mountune sequential

This is RTD Shifter! Similar to, but no cutting required

In anticipation of bringing home another project (cuz, you know, I need a hole in my head.) I stripped down the remains of an MG Midget tonight. Outside. In the rain.

I am not a smart man.

Here's hoping the Midget I'm picking up this coming week isn't too rusty. I want to do a quick turn around on it this winter.

asian_XL 12-14-2018 01:56 AM

sound deadening and more fender rolling.

The shitty Mazda is so much quieter, as good as my Toyota Alphard

320icar 12-14-2018 11:53 AM

Ordered a set of Sparco Terr, 16x7 et40. Once the winter starts to get closer to being over I’ll set everything and make sure it fits. Then order the bfg ko2 215/65r16

They only offer white for this size for me. Should I run white on white? Or dip these gold

Dip them!

Anything in Craigslist seems to be $300+. For that price I can buy a rebuild kit and a billet wheel and be assured some decent life, no?

Went to work on the manifold today. People get some pretty good results porting this things out. Not pretty, but it’s an exhaust.... not much work to the runners, but it’s a better picture. Lol. Biggest restriction is at the merge at the collector.

The '58 got a fresh coat of chassis black on the underside. My trail exploring this summer put a few scrapes in the bottom, and the surface rust was unsightly.

Started making patch panels for the German Look beetle project...I'm going to have to make some new patches, as the donor car was rotten in the same area...but I figure I might as well make patterns that are as close as possible.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4851/...094cf419_z.jpg

I'm probably going to have to make this one out of fresh steel. I cut it too small, and the surface rust was more than surface. :( Of course, it's all curves...great.
