Hard motorsports is a nearby CAE dealer (WA). Their holiday sale (-10%) is now live and recent FB / IG posts hint CAE products are included.

^^ I just checked it out. CAE shifter is $1149 or something. Will definitely be on my shopping list eventually.

Mounted tow straps to the SVT, she is now ice racing ready!

^ what you need to do is take everything out of the RS and shove it in all into the SVT. Motor and all, that would be epic... yea I know it's probably expensive and not reasonable but it'll be one hell of a build thread.

How cool would it be to roll around in one of those.

tofu1413 12-21-2018 08:40 AM

there was an article I read that some dude in Japan made an EX WRC Impreza into a street car...

sounds very doable here (no aircare nowadays) esp with Anti Lag :lawl: :lawl: :lawl:

Trevor Harding rally school has been selling off their fleet the last few months, all still technically steel legal and class legal for the CRC. $20k is a pretty cheap entry price

tofu1413 12-21-2018 09:36 AM

^ cheaper than building your own!

320icar 12-21-2018 09:42 AM

Absolutely. Only thing theyre missing is some really trick stuff like sequential gearbox and stuff like that, but hey id rather run the risk of blowing up a 2k gearbox and not a 12k.

I’ve been meaning to get in touch with the school for a while now. I’ve had a taste and I want to up my game

it was a bit of a pain in the ass... the cable going to the rear is alot thicker and longer than the one that comes with the blackvue series. I did manage to hide all the cabling as best as I could. Blackvue's app is also much much easier to use than the thinkware. firmware updates are silly as you have to connect the thinkware to a hotspot to get it.. easiest way i guess is to just put the firmware update on the sdcard. speaking of which, if your car has all the funky sensors nowadays then theres that huge contraption on the top center of your windshield... so for installation, the thinkware goes underneath it..BUT to remove the sdcard, you need to leave a good amount of space or it wont come out...because the sdcard slot is on the top of the thinkware unit. other issue is that the blackvue was a whole lot more sleeker and stealthy.... the F800 is black/silver... so its quite visible. wifi transfer of files to smartphone was super fast though which was great..otherwise quality was good too.. very crisp image quality. but i have to say the thinkware app is very clunky and kinda shitty. also the app has no LIVE view.. kinda shitty.. its more meant to line up the camera view.

...

Did the F800 from bestbuy come with Thinkware's hardwiring kit? and what's the max capacity SDcard?

asian_XL 12-26-2018 08:51 AM

^128gb

They shouldn't come with one unless it was som sort of special bundle. Max capacity for F800 is 64GB however some 128GB will work.

officially the F800 only supports up to 64GB, it has compatibility issues with 128GB. The F800 pro supports 128GB

So rip apart a fully function hot Ford hatch, and do a ton of work to make a slightly different looking hot Ford hatch? I feel like putting the SVT front clip onto the RS would be easier.

hmm... technically, all of our regular plates ARE Expo 86 plates already hahaha :fullofwin:

But seriously though, i wish we could opt for the old White on Blue pre-expo scheme, kind of like California and their yellow on black. It would look real sharp on these older cars

My large trunk had one small LED bulb at the front and it was hard to see anything in there, so I wired up some blue LEDs so I can find tools in the dark when needed. I prefer blue over bright white so that my eyes don't get scorched.
