I had them out of the vehicle, most of the time it's done by a specialty shop so between removal, bringing them to/from the rebuilder, etc I could see it costing $500. |

Just this past week my fuel economy took a dump again. Im getting around 280 KM/170miles range per full tank. I've considered doing the following - Bosch Fuel Injectors x8 - $174usd - self install - Eldor STI Ignition Coils x8 - $539 usd - self install - Genuine BMW Fuel Tank Breather Valve x1 - $80-100usd - self install I have new spark plugs sitting on my desk right now. Normally I get around 360-380KM range which is decent for the V8 (Most people are getting around 380-400km even after ripping it around while.) |
For 1 car, I threw in a new engine air filter after about 3-4 years. Construction between the two filters looks pretty different, new one is "Bosch Workshop" https://i.imgur.com/2KLOWaj.jpg Like Acura604, I threw in a dual channel dash cam with OBD2 hardware. Instead of BlackVue, I used an Aukey DR02D and Aukey hardwire kit. Mostly happy with it for just over $200 CAD taxes in. Cable to rear camera was super thick and hard to slip into the seals. https://i.imgur.com/82fNiVb.jpg The extra module is kind of annoying, wonder why they couldn't have located it with the main module. https://i.imgur.com/5oPrdki.jpg Also needed to detach the OBD2 port connector from its original location since the fuse box cover wouldn't close with it in its original spot. https://i.imgur.com/JVir1SO.jpg |
Well, I got back from my US trip with a bunch of parts in my luggage...and I also picked up the wheels from a local powder-coater. Once again, I'm not sure I made the correct colour choice for the 'look' I want...but it will be easy enough to change. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4863/...81e47cb6_c.jpg Got the Brooklands screens installed...always scary to drill new holes into the body that you can't reverse! https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7895/...9bcb9d76_c.jpg For the wheels, I will probably end up using plasti-dip to make them black. I think a black wheel is going to look better for the period 'racing' look I'm after, but didn't want to powdercoat them permanently black, as I fear they'll look like cheap winter steelies. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7912/...c4772ee9_c.jpg I also managed to pick up the seats that I had recovered, and got the guys to quilt some panels for me that I used on the inside of the doors. To say I'm stoked on the interior would be an understatement. While it's certainly not original...it's is 100% 'me'. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4887/...9f0d0fda_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4857/...9784333f_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4805/...16df47d4_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4820/...1bedd36a_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7882/...0a44abbb_b.jpg The steering wheel is planned as a 'temporary' item, until I can find a thick-rimmed, 13", wooden wheel at a price I'm willing to pay. But I do love the feel of a good alcantra wheel when I'm driving, so I suspect it will stay in the car longer. Pretty much the only reason I'll swap it out is the quick-release moves the wheel 1.5" closer to the driver over a stock wheel. I could run without the quick release, but I know from my Beetle that if you let the alcantra sit in inclement weather, they start to feel damp and clammy. With no top, I need to be able to take the wheel inside! |
That's the cats knees and the bees pajamas. |
Haha awesome. How was the install of the mini windshields? I did a set of those once. Almost pulled out my hair trying to get them straight. Looks like you have some nice vents to base measurements off of. Why aren’t cars perfectly straight?? Love the interior. |

Sick build! I love the seats. |
Thought I would take advantage of this sunny day before the 'snowstorm' that is coming tomorrow. ;) Car was waxed a week ago, today I applied Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal sealant as I have read a lot of good write-ups about this product. We'll see how it holds up to Canadian winter. I applied this to everything - paint, clear bra, glass, trim, and wheels. It's pretty damn shiny now. https://i.imgur.com/W008Wtn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9nvyS0y.jpg |
With the stock trunk light, I can hardly see anything in the dark. Swap it with a superbright LED bulb and added another set of light. The result is stunning. http://i66.tinypic.com/2cgmra1.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/2yn54ra.jpg http://i63.tinypic.com/2u5rvab.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/2saklki.jpg |
Damn those lights are bright as faccckkkkk |
So my OTHER Italian is acting up and giving me problems. The little shit occasionally surges when you let off the throttle and then try to reapply. It also sometimes has problems idling and just dies at stop lights. https://i.postimg.cc/QNpX7jBg/IMG-6130.jpg So... 1) I replaced the sparkplug. The old one doesnt seem that fouled up... https://i.postimg.cc/d0czYvx0/20190130-222432.jpg 2) i removed all the extra accessories attached to the bike. The previous owner put in a fuel controller and an accessory port and added a shit load of wires. https://i.postimg.cc/fRNxMzGV/20190202-163559.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/P5Q1JGH2/20190202-163640.jpg Went for a ride just now and it seems to be okay. Hopefully, this fixes it, if not the next step is to fuck with the fuel evaporation canister as that might cause stalls or surges apparently. P.S. I must downsize to only 1 Italian mistress. having 2 around is too time-consuming and not good for the wallet. |
^ That's why I never married an Italian. :lol On a side note, I added this to my Tundra the other day. The oem wheel is just so damn terrible, and Alcantara feels nice. So yeah. https://i.imgur.com/k661daF.jpg And because I am a red blooded Gwailo from the Valley..... https://i.imgur.com/ZHY9GUT.jpg |

You dodged a bullet there, trust me. |
I started cutting the rear fenders out of my 95 civic HB, cut the spot welds and opened it up like a tin can. No turning back now. |
