Ended up getting Aria to do my brake and clutch bleed, as well as my engine/trans mounts. Engine mounts were split in half for both, I guess that explains the lurching and the thump.
But holy shit, for anyone with a daily questioning (95A) poly engine mounts - don't do it. Jesus christ i should have listened to the masses. I feel like I just got tumbled in a washing machine.

Did you do all of them 95 durometer? I did just my trans mount @80 and it was a pretty big difference. Couldn’t imagine doing all of them. Turning on A/C at idle would register on the Richter scale

Yeah I did both engine and trans mount in 95a. I actually wanted to go with the vorshlag preferred, I believe it was 80a all round, but Nick (you know which one) recommended pairing the RTD shifter with 95a or Group N mounts.
I should have paid more and bought the Group N mounts holy shit.

Give it time, they will soften up. It should also take out a bunch of driveline shunt and sloppy shifter feel. Might be worth it

Swapping back to smaller brakes for clearance.
Feeling the banjo bolt for the line go tighter...tighter...loose
Not being able to find the spares
Finding the spares an 2 hours later
I also got my mockup strut on (no spring and nuts for spacers) so I can slap a tire on there and check clearances this evening.

Just saw this. I got used to it, kind of. Drive back from track day and immediately into a quiet house was interesting. It was unusual to not hear everything rattling.
Vibrations only seem to be bad on cold start and idle. At higher RPMs it sounds cool, I don't even need an exhaust! I put the interior back in and its definitely much quieter than before.
Drivetrain slop has almost been completely eliminated, I just need new diff and subframe mounts. For the most part, the car pulls hard and the shifter performed perfectly on track.

After being motivated by watching Project Binky I made a bracket for the speed pickup for the rally computer. My lack of tools, time, and mostly skill left me with something that's not pretty enough to photograph, but it should hold things in the right place so success.

My first fabbed panels were hideous but they worked. Getting better everyone I make.

After getting lucky by driving like an old lady for the last month and a half the injector seal on my Jeep totally failed again so I got to spend 2 hours changing the same one that has plagued me for a year. Doing more digging into the corners of the internet I had found out about a Honda injector seal that's thicker and made of softer copper so it *should* be more durable (thank you forums!). We'll see how it holds long term, I've got 7 spares of the Honda seal because they're from a Euro-only diesel Accord so shipping sucked.
On the plus side while working on it I had someone come up who's interested in buying my car. He's only 7 so I'm not getting my hopes up but some kids are crazy spoiled with their allowances so who knows.

Got my aluminum skidplate in for the RS. Been talking with DMGfab about making a custom splitter. He’s done a prototype that mounts to the crashbar/lower rad support. Setting up a group buy with other RS owners

Mmmmm skidplates. How thick is it? I'm hoping to make one in a few months.
Today I roughed out my front spacers and reassembled one front strut. The way it goes together sucks if you're using spring compressors but I managed to get everything more or less lined up properly.
A problem I ran into is I noticed that the inner bearing of the Cusco camber plate doesn't fit snugly on the strut shaft like the stock style mounts do. There's a pretty sizeable gap that has me a bit concerned, should the clamping force of the nut be enough to keep it in the right place or should I ditch the plates and go back to stock style mounts?
edit: digging through my old messages from when I bought these ages ago they're supposed to have spacers to fit the stock shaft which I clearly lost. Fuck sakes.

It’s 10ga (3.5mm). Doesn’t sound like much but when you pick it up it’s more than beefy enough. Anything more would just be dead weight. I got confirmation the front splitter will go into production and hopefully start shipping mid September. I would like to fabricate up a rear diff cover as well since I don’t want to know how much that e-diff is to replace

Rally Bug is up on stands for some changes to the rear brake circuit. '58 got the steering wheel painted, but it didn't cure right. Feels tacky...even an hour in my kitchen oven didn't help. Doh, driving the car today to The Great Canadian VW Show weekend. Oops.

Got the Skidplate mounted. In hindsight I should have sprayed the underbody, shit was PACKED with dirt and sand lol. Only thing I noticed is now that my oem front splitter is gone, my aftermarket intercooler is flush with the bottom bumper and lower rad support. So until I get my aluminum splitter in mid-late September I’m going to have to take it easy |

^^ can you explain the trend I see on your subies decal? I’ve noticed mainly Subaru’s putting that clear ‘chameleon’ reflective vinyl over headlights and tail lights and badges etc.
