installed a custom chassis mount aluminum front splitter. i contacted the same person who made my aluminum skidplate and organized a group buy to make this project happen. installed it today. did the industry standard 200lb gorilla test and it holds me perfectly fine.
perfectly compliments the skidplate, and shouldn't be damaging my motor anytime soon from rocks.
I've always curious about these skid plates, bumper bars etc. Since all the cars come out of the factory designed in a way to reduce pedestrian injury etc. Does someone have any additional recourse to sue you personally if they were struck by a car with a skid plate hanging out like that?
If that thing is strong enough to hold 200lb, that thing is going to cut your damn legs off if it hit you. I've always been curious from a liability standpoint.
I see jeeps roll around with the big wrap-around metal grills all the time. Can someone sue the fuck out of you if you smoke someone with those on your car since the Jeep owner pretty much-wrapped iron pipes around the soft plastic bumper? I mean, it's not that much different that me welding a spike to the front of my Astro van.

Not hating, legit question.
+1 im also wondering about the same thing
anybody have actual facts to contribute instead of assumptions?
*anything* that alters a vehicle has an inherent risk to it. Whether a Jeep running around with a stinger front bumper, a tow truck with an aftermarket winch, a track car with a splitter, a basic 99 Honda Civic that’s lowered (and thus changes pedestrian contact area when hit).
Best thing you can do is not be stupid, be honest if you get into an accident and be a defensive driver

No kidding, and the most you ever get out of it is a little "oopsie my bad" if you're lucky and a complete expectation that it's no big deal.
Meanwhile you leave the toilet seat up a couple times in a row and it's fucking world war 3.
