It would be pretty hard to complain about any of that. Looks top notch. The cat isn’t perfect, but you won’t have any issues. The stressors/cracks happen at the manifold, where there is large heat cycling.
^youre such a friggin wizard!!! Installing cats and headers in your garage ?!? CrrraaaZzzyyyy cool
Nah dude, screw that. I would not even attempt that job solo, even if I had a hoist. Probably gonna pay someone to do it because 100% this and anything driveshaft related, I don't touch.

I get the driveshaft part, but why not headers? Is it because the potential for seized on nuts is too high? Or are the headers on your particular car too awkward to get to?
(Honest question. I thought about doing the headers on my fox bodied mustang when I was a kid, but couldn't afford them in the end. It didn't occur to me it would be a hard operation at the time)
The 3rd annual big white trip with friends to go watch the Winter Rally stage of the CRC. Got a beautiful place as usual with hot tub overlooking the hairpin at the top of the mountain. We didn’t bother bringing any ski gear as the weekend said blah for weather and only 3 runs opens.
Fog was insane on the 97c as usual then borderline unedrivable up the mountain. Couldn’t even see the concrete in front of the car. Ended up snowing about 6” of great powder. Sooooo much fun to drive on. I most certainly didn’t drift every single hairpin up and down the mountain....
As usual I didn’t do much in the way of photo taking. There are lots of people with real camera gear, you don’t need to see my cell phone shots. Most of the regular cars weren’t there this event which was odd. Still a bunch of sick entrants though. make sure to watch 1080p
Sunday morning and curbed my lovely front wheel, luckily it has metal rim protector, didn't hurt the wheel at all. Spent the afternoon fixing the wheel and installed the Toyota Camry front splitter.
Idk what that is but most people heat wrap (reflective vinyl/mesh/cloth or smt) or some kind of ceramic

Potential for seized nuts are pretty high, even with a torch. When a shop did my driveshaft bushings (guibo), they snapped/seized several exhaust bolts. It's pretty much a given.
But to answer your question, in the E46, it's just a PITA to get to or try to do on your back with your car on jack stands. I'd probably have a different tune if I had a hoist I could stand under LOL.
Hell a hoist would have made changing front control arms way easier. Imagine an upside down turtle on it's shell - that was me for 8 hours LOL

I had limited time Christmas Eve so I pulled the sohc and related parts, need to overhaul the ITR trans and swap the B in in the next couple of days. I’ll likely livestream that too.
PPF is amazing. Followed a taxi on a highway, its hubcap came off and hit on my front fender (I guess 80km/h as I hit the brake hard) then bounced on the windshield. The fender was all scratched up, then 5 minutes later everything healed up.

Certain VPD actions have me wary of posting in this thread any longer. But, I managed to find some time to assemble this unit for my new project...will need to machine at least one new steel mount, but this is perfect for confirming fit and any issues.
Lets just say I'm really hoping I got the math on the Master cylinders correct. Far more so than with the Rally Bug :P

Cool pedals, looks $$
Do you think the VPD are looking at this thread? Or are you afraid of posting illegal mods. Short of open wheeled I think you could get away with a ton of stuff on your VW and they wouldn't take a second glance.

It's more about having an active record of modifications in an easy to find spot. I'm quite comfortable that the way I build my cars is safe, and if I do go outside the lines it's in a fashion I'm well aware of.
But yeah, I'm pretty stoked on the pedals. We won't discuss the cost.
SOLD the TL S 6MT to an American buyer. Poor guy got harassed upon entering Canada by CBSA and as well when returning to the US by CBP. Him being Russian didn’t help.
I’m glad the car is gone....I’m soooo done with manual transmission
