From 2004 on they use the Toyota 2zz. 1.8L revs to 8500. So the engine should hold up, and if not it's a common enough part here too.

Installed some lightning bolts to make my car go faster

I just spent a few minutes doing 2degree cold start tuning on my Honda. Still waiting for a good -5 degree day.

Right now I'm going through my scrap stainless, thinking about adding a Helmoltz resonator to the 2 resonators and single muffler on my hatchback. Car is way too loud.

is that the ramp to Superstore on SE Marine Drive?

Finally got around to tuning the AWD and ABS in the RS. Went with the T16 version which keeps SWVEC on, but locks the rear diff for launch control. Ups the rear bias of the system as well. Reallt changes the dynamics of the RS.

Also as a bonus, flashed the ABS.... so when you’re in drift mode, the handbrake sensor triggers the rear ABS pump, disengages the centre diff and locks the wheels = hydro e-brake :p

Whoa rear diff is active until 340f? That seems like it would COOK the diff fluid, wouldn't it?

Also have you noticed it going into fwd mode much? Rear diff cooler in the works?

320icar 12-12-2020 03:55 PM

I’ve only ever had the RDU (rear drive unit aka e-diff) shut off once, it was the last session in the August Ridge track day (35°c ambient temps). All other track days it’s been fine.

As for the temps, it’s actually an inferred temperature from the centre diff (PTU, power transfer unit) as the RDU doesn’t have its own sensor. So even if you add a diff cooler, if the PTU gets hot it will still shut off the diff. Stock temp limit is 160°, which I trust ford to extensively research.

How does regenerative braking work with aftermarket set ups?

asian_XL 12-25-2020 04:05 PM

It is not an issue. I can still use either mode when driving : low gen or standard gen

The problem with Base Performance is 4100lb car, near 500hp, but comes with SR+ 320mm brake. It is dangerous to stop the car at highway speed or emergency stop in city. Regen only slow down your car but not grab your brake to stop.

been waiting months but my heat tape finally came in. most the carbon hood has structure and an internal air gap, but the vented areas is just the carbon fibre. so gold heat tape is used to keep temps down and protect the finish. and of course, you know, rice points.

I dunno about you, but I’d prefer to not have water on the top of my coil packs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Decided I finally had some time over the holidays to clean up the interior a bit. For only being a shift knob and a wheel cover, it's amazing how much it changes the feel of the car. Super happy with the result and not as crazy hard as I was expecting, just needed to take time with the stitching and not rush it to make sure it came out even and factory looking :fullofwin:

^ where'd you get the replacement wheel cover and plastic trim plate?

BIC_BAWS 01-25-2021 08:37 PM

Not sure where OP got it but the M trim can be found anywhere, I might have an extra one around or try other forums ie. E46Fanatics, NAM3Fourm, E46 M3 Buy/Sell FB page, even on Craigslist locally

Wheel cover, a lot of people with nice E46s used Alibaba/AliExpress tbh. It looks surprisingly good.

Replacement cover was from eBay actually for like $50, pretty similar to what BIC_BAWS was getting at, just had to do some minor trimming to make it fit more accurately but I’m super happy how it turned out without spending the money on a Coby wheel or something similar for $600+.

As for the trim I actually threw a couple coats of plastidip on it for now until I can find a new replacement. Very similar in colour to stock and can only tell if looking for it closely. Overall cheap and easy fix for now that looks 100x better than it did before

320icar 02-01-2021 06:59 PM

Installed Powerflex engine/motor mounts. Cleaned up all the factory chassis ground points and added an extra ground strap, which fixed my misfire and now she idles much smoother. Also finished installing my AEM v3 WMI setup and received my base tune form Stratified. Charge air temps are down ~20° and boost was raised to 27psi. Can’t wait to let the car adjust and do some datalogs to see where it ends up. Also went full rice mode and added some more heat wrap on the intake pipes lol

GIZZ 02-01-2021 10:08 PM

On the civic, I made 2 holes to feed the air filter.

The car has some challenges, a 74mm throttle body, 7.5lbs flywheel. Had some random stalling when the throttle plate slams shut. I’ve also been playing with cold starts. Running AEM series 2, WOT tuning and warm starts were easy. Just so many other things to mess with in an attempt to have OE manners.
