Did a little detailing under the hood, getting shined up for all the meets that aren't gonna happen this spring.

Gave up on waiting for the RAV4 Prime especially after seeing it's pricing. Instead bought a newer, lower km, and more loaded younger brother for the V6 RAV4 and getting my deposit back for the Prime.

Wish they carried the V6 forward to the newer gens.

My V6 has become a work truck. But man, I usually look at different vehicles constantly. Dreaming of stupid ideas. But then I get in my Rav and I think to myself “I $&&?ing love this vehicle.” I’ll drive it into the ground. Haha. Driving my wife’s new CRV is nice for its creature comforts, but it sucks. HahH.

Yeah same here, which is why I was interested in the Prime with 302hp. My wife is too used to the 269hp of the V6 she can't go back to anything lower.

Yeah I never thought I'd be so into a compact crossover SUV but it's a damn fine car. Nothing fancy, just powerful, usable, and reliable. The idea of getting another is to find one fully loaded with clean history that we can hopefully drive into the ground as well.

not my favourite colour but that's cleann

how's the nvh compared to the sport?

Yeah the NVH was another big reason for finding a Limited.

Noise in not sure as I haven't taken it on a prolonged highway trip, which I find the sport has pretty loud road noise. So that is TBD.

Vibration and harshness is much better in the limited. It feels more dampened when I shut the doors, and it is waaay more comfortable when going over rough streets. Comparing directly to the Sport, the limited feels like it's floating over rough roads.

So my wife had the same problem with speed with a lot of the "economy" SUVs. She was spoiled driving my FBO MS3 and it was a learning curve already "side-grading" to a Mini Cooper 1.5t. The 1st day we picked up the Cooper she tried to overtake a bunch of cars getting onto a ramp.

Me: "What are you doing?"
Her: "Passing them?"
Me: "You can't do that in this car."
Her: "Why?"
Me: "You've got less than half the power...."

Tuner went on pretty quickly after that. (+20hp, + 20-30tq)

When we looked for a family SUV to trade the Mini in for, anything that was slowing than 7s to 100 was out of the question.

Does the Limited have more sound deadening? The smaller wheel size would make a ton of difference for the harshness on roads. Toyota's suspension tuning are always under-damped imo.

I am not sure officially if there's any sound deadening difference between Sport and Limited, but on first impression the door close on the Limited feels more solid/heavy.

Even with the smaller winter tires on the Sport (pictured), the Limited rides better. The suspension tuning is indeed different between Limited and Sport.

twitchyzero 03-08-2021 12:53 PM

more deadening is usually added when they refresh a model, not so much between trims for similar years

ie 16 v 17 forester, 08 vs 09 vitara

I assumed your sport was several years older/pre-facelift

That’s one of the exact reasons we ended up with the twin turbo awd Ford Flex. Wife spent the last few years driving my modified focus ST and then RS. Going back to anything pedestrian was too much of a drop

Went through all my car's service records since new. I found the original order sheet (factory order), window sticker, all the dealership service records, the trip to the body shop it took to fix some shopping cart damage, the original cheque and bill of sale. I'm going to put it all in a binder and be one of "those guys" when I go to sell it where I have all the shit that goes with the car.

dared3vil0 04-02-2021 04:06 PM

Do you want to sell it? I know somebody looking for one...

68style 04-02-2021 06:10 PM

I have a 93 Prelude SR-V I've been working on, it's got collector plates already but I was getting the dreaded ABS light shortly after startup... every single one has this problem.

Anyway, removed the ABS pump, and have to clean these little pins that are supposed to slide out from centrifugal (or centripetal? My physics is too old) motion when the motor spins up to pressurize at start-up... but they get gummed up and don't slide out and the ABS light gets tripped as a result. I think most Prelude owners just leave it because it's too much trouble to get the pump out, but I'm a glutton for punishment so... why not...

Pump:

The little pins that weren't sliding, getting cleaned up:

I ran out of time and wasn't able to re-install the pump... but crossing my fingers it will all work out.............

I've really toyed with the idea. Maybe if the market crashes and I can dump the money in the market and get a new car. And sometimes I get bored of having a fun car. But right now I am going to hold onto it. I know that if I sell it, whatever else I'd want to buy will be way more money and I'd be very sad to know it was gone.

How did you manage to curb the driver's side wheel?

The reverse bulbs swap are a must on the tlx, my only gripe is even with the swap, the reflector focuses the light higher and away from the car vs. spread out like a fog lamp. Everytime I reverse I feel like the lights aren't on. :fulloffuck:
