Did a mid-interval oil change (15k km is too long imo especially if you drive hard or track). Overfilled it a bit because no physical dipstick. Will have to suck some out later. |

15k :suspicious: as in 15k total or 15k intervals |
No alcantara for me @donk Before https://i.imgur.com/5lgtaBD.jpg After https://i.imgur.com/ywViiSE.jpg Not really looking forward to changing the rest of the interior pieces to the brushed aluminum trim Does anyone have a lead on someone that can refinish these pieces? Drivers arm rest piece is rougher than I'd like. Not sure if a wheel refinishing place can do it?! |
https://i.imgur.com/YfUyYdC.png Did our annual cruise this weekend. My buddy gives me the finger as he passes me, top-down, looking smug as hell. 10mins later the alt gives out; 14v, 13v, 12v, 11v, 10v. Me = all the volts. $800 tow back home. Muhahahahhaha |
Haven't done it to my vehicle yet, but been working on the finishing touches here. Still haven't done any fine sanding on the loose lip. They were all spiderwebbed with darkened clear and black overspray on the lips before. Not willing to put the time in for mirror polish lips or anything probably. The car isn't nice enough for that. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9fe6d9af_b.jpg |
Damn those gonna look epic on the e30 |

I had a friend build an adapter for my old brake lathe, to help with assembling and polishing wheels. I also want to make it so the cutting head can cut at the drop centre, then I can band some steelies. https://i.imgur.com/z6dE3f3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DRvJYU5.jpg |
I love it |
Another one bites the dust Spoiler! |
You should start channel flip. I’d watch you take shit apart |
Track car build? :troll: |
"What did you do to your vehicle yesterday"? I broke it. Left it at a friend's house in Mission... another 1ZZFE knock knock knockin on heaven's door FeelsBadMan Attendance at October 2 Ridge Track Day very much at risk now. |
WHY U BREAK NICE THINGS!!!?!?!? |
I dunno, been a shit past year for me at autocross... popped the passenger axle on my k-swap Civic... tow home from Mission... now what sounds like rod bearing on my Celica... will be another tow home today. Never had any problems before. Blahhhhhhhh. More time in the shop Yaris I guess? |
68style's official Stock and Noob meet car. :) Time for an engine swap? :fullofwin: |
I don't think the 7th gen Celica is a very swap friendly car... there weren't that many of them to begin with and it had almost no tuner support compared to the Honda equivalents at the time. Even a 2ZZ would probably be very difficult. Need another cockroach motor I guess. The one I put in it from JK Japanese sure didn't last long.............. a year / 8,000kms? Poof. |

ive read that the biggest issue with the 2zz was the oil pan. If you replace it with the 1zz oil pan, it'll solve the issue of oil starvation when you corner too hard. edit: Also oil pump it seems "Consequently, it is impossible to "over-rev" the engine with the throttle alone; a downshift from a higher gear must be involved. A typical "over-rev" can damage the oil pump, commonly disintegrating the lobe ring, resulting in damage similar to the picture at right. The oil pump is the Achilles heel of the 2ZZ, though incidents are rare and usually occur due to fault of the driver. Even the briefest period of oil starvation is usually fatal to this engine design." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_ZZ_engine https://engineswork.com/engines/toyo...ge-engine.html |
That's not very comforting since cornering too hard is (I think) what finished off my 1zz... and there's a kit to address oil starvation issues on the 1zz too lol What they're talking about above on the 2zz was a common issue back when these cars were new... the GT is a 5 speed and didn't have the issue (although, as a n00b I almost did it once myself)... but the GT-S with the 6 speed transmission was highly susceptible to a 3-2 shift when you meant to do 3-4... obviously when you're sending it that is NOT a good thing.... 11,000millionbillions RPMs is RIP on any engine |
But it sounds soooooo damn good |
JK Japanese is still around? Those fuckers sold me a pooched motor with a random trans and ECU back in 2007 lol. |
We are part of what is probably not a very exclusive club now sir https://townsquare.media/site/442/fi...jpg?w=980&q=75 |
