I finally found some ramps that can accommodate this low ass car (59.99 from crappy tire right now)
https://i.postimg.cc/NG8pC7P5/IMG-4242.jpg
unfortunately while the car is elevated, my fat ass was still unable to squeeze underneath to reach the drain plug (which those Japanese put a foot behind the front wheels!! basically where the A pillar starts)

the search continues.

Why don't you use an extractor?

headhunt3r 05-14-2023 07:10 PM

Maybe that ramp is enough for you to fit a low profile jack underneath a front/center jack point, then you can use stands on the side to hold it up?

If I recall from a previous post (likely another thread?) it made a mess.

Or maybe it was user error. or both. lol

Badhobz 05-14-2023 07:55 PM

Those tubes on the extractor was a god damn shit show. Flailing around like doc octopus

The Producer 05-14-2023 08:19 PM

when you get the extractor dialed - it's pretty sweet.

i'm a convert - at least every other change. it is good to get as much as you can out of the sump once in awhile w a plug out change.

Spoiler!

hud 91gt 05-14-2023 08:25 PM

I think I’d trust that wood more then I would asphalt on a 30 degree day. Saying that, you don’t need Jack stands. You can probably bench press the back of that car lol.

roastpuff 05-14-2023 10:27 PM

I mean, gotta handle the tube properly, don't whip it around if you know what I mean. No helicopter allowed.

Badhobz 05-15-2023 05:13 AM

The one I bought the tubes were really rigid (to prevent pinches in the line) so they were hard to manipulate. Once they were done sucking, quite a bit of motor oil remained in the lines and I had to find a place to hang them up all the while dripping god damn motor oil everywhere. I plugged them with some paper towels but even then it’s messy cuz the paper towels get soaked through and I still need a place to “hang” these stupid tubes for an hour or so. Also that connection between the tubes and the machine is flimsy at best so if you didn’t get it just right, you’ll spring a leak and once again shit goes everywhere.

When you remove the tube from the dipstick hole, it would occasionally pop out some motor oil and that’s also annoying.

Fuck that shit. I hate making a mess. It’s drain plug or nothing for me.

How tall is that ramp hobs? Can't tell if it's cuz your car is huge, I've been wanting to get one to help out with wheel changes, seems easier to get the jack in as the car is pretty much half jacked already.

bcrdukes 05-15-2023 10:52 AM

@Badhobz maybe you should let roastpuff show you how it's done next time at a stock and noob meet haha

Crappy tire says it only gives a 4.2inch lift. I only got it because it seems safer and easier then traditional jack stands and wheel chock. Need more of a lift…

so im confused as hell. when my ratrolla is cold, i check the dip stick and it shows the oil is about 1/2 inch over the full mark. So i bought an oil extractor and removed 1/2 a litre and it was still showing over the full mark...

Then my neighbor told me to start it for a few second and let the system pressurize. Once i did that, and checked it again (with the oil flowing through the system) it shows 1/2 a litre under the min mark.

i dont get it.

According to the manual im suppose to check it after warming it up a few minutes and then let it drain back down into the sump. I did it, now its showing full after i put the oil i sucked out of it back in minus maybe 0.15L
https://i.postimg.cc/qBcQnL12/IMG-9860.jpg

this damn oil extractor is bullshit too. little drops of oil all over the place when its suppose to be "cleaner" than using the drain plug. my ass! those little plastic tubs flying around everywhere and no good place to store them. ended up duct taping them to a ladder to let them drain into my plastic oil pan.

Fuck this thing

I bought some kirkland 0w20 and 5w30, some toyota oil filters/crush washers from the dealership and went to town.

I realized that the dealership doesnt give a flying shit about the torque specs on the oil filter. it was on so tight i needed a breaker bar just to take it off. Pretty sure they used an impact drill to put it on or something.

I torqued it to manual specs of 18.5lbs and changed all the o rings. Felt good knowing the job was done right and the oil level was perfect.

These crappy tire ramps are on sale. i picked them up and they are working pretty good.

These are the ramps I have at home right now. They work quite well but too tall for the ratrolla

Should wrap the whole front end and sideskirts. I would recommend the roof too since I've seen enough roof chips
