I’ve crossed shopped for filters at RockAuto and they aren’t that much cheaper (if at all) versus buying local. After the taxes and shipping, the savings are marginal.

If you can buy bulk filters, you can save a bit, but not everyone has a commercial account.

My only suggestion to Badhobz is to return the vehicle and get a Maybach.

For this particular case, EA888 filters (Mann HU6013Z) are $7.88 each, and shipping is $16 taxes and duties included. If you buy 4 of them, the cost drops to ~$12 each. Instead of $31 plus taxes each.

I can’t stand it !!!! Between paying 31 dollars for a filter and 4 dollars for a drain plug washer I’m losing my mind.

That’s a lot of Costco savings required to make back that kinda money

Plus I can’t even cheap out on the oil and use Kirkland stuff. Noooooo, now I have to find this insanely specific VW 508 shit that’s formulated to rip you off all the while this heap will likely be stranded on the side of the road anyways

At least she looks good stranded too. I better get used to this view.

For Badhobz, it’s VW branded filters or bust!

Changed the transmission fluid in my 997 to Mobilube PTX. Eliminated the notchy 1st and 2nd when cold. Ended up being super easy to do on my neighbour's lift, that stuff stinks though.

I ordered 12 quarts of this insanely expensive VW oil.

0w20 snake oil 6qts = 93 bucks
+
VW oil filter made of gold and myrrh = 31 bucks
+
VW drain plug washer made of space age metals = 4 bucks
+
Fuck you in the ass taxes
======================
= I should have bought a corolla in a manual instead.

im so cheap im gonna go find their warehouse / distro center and go pick it up myself. i aint paying you 20 bucks for shipping 12 bottles of liquid gold! thats robbery on top of robbery

Are 5QT jugs not available?

Generally, I only like the 1QT bottles if I am topping the oil off. It is much easier to stick to a single 5L / 5Q jug for proper oil changes.

(The 4.4L garbage can go back into to the bean counter's a$$.)

i did the math, and because if you bought in "bulk" you save 5%, it works out cheaper than buying the 5L jugs. I also hate these 1L bottles as its just more of a hassle to open up 6 bottles.

Dude. DUDE.

I told you Overdrive can get you 5L of that stuff for 75$ ish plus taxes.

Also, you won't need 6L per oil change, I think you overbought oil.

Yeah but support local shops vs some random one in Ontario lol.

It says 6.5qt/5.7L but you typically won't get that much out, that's probably for a bone dry engine.

ah true true. is overdrive the guys on no 5 road or something? i think i went there to pickup donk's brake pads last time

ill grab it from them next time.

Im planning on doing oil at 2000kms, then 8,000kms before entering the regular 10,000km interval. i dont trust VAG's 20,000 interval bullshit.

yeah but i might buy it out and keep it. It'll be the last manual GTI ever... who knows might be worth something later on.

I enjoy it so far. Quite fun! handles really well and the infotainment doesnt bother me.

I finished up putting the brake controller in the Rav. I added aux power as well to run the trailer fridge while towing. I even labeled the wires in the engine bay cause it's my wifes nice vehicle and not one of my POS's lol

Then I popped the Grand Cherokee in the garage and started on the long arm install.

The bend in that bottom piece caused by a rock making it very clear this was overdue lol

No going back now!

Just put that damn GTI on FB Marketplace now before you put another penny into it.

And oh ... if you didn't research beforehand ... all manual GTI's go for less than DSG used.

Shoulda stay with your damn Lexus, Alfa Romeo, & Maserati.

But please post it here first with the best RS price ... thanks for eating the depreciation off the lot and adding the tinted windows.
