It was pretty wimpy, but it survived a solid 5 years and harsh winters before it gave out. I never had any issues until it hit -20 during the winter and that's when it decided to go, "Nope. Not today."

It would explain why they would cost cut the handles since most ppl don't use them anymore. Quote:

Patched a big nail type of hole in my silverado, I'm guessing the nail came out once it was flat. Flat 10 ply tire was loud, survived a couple blocks driven on flat, tire was hot but not visibly damaged. I got the flat friday afternoon in the bad rain, stopped to put on spare in front of a firehall. I hoped nobody would come out, nobody did. I was thinking I would probably help somebody if they had a flat in front of my place.
Also changed a front bearing in the TSX today, the bearing was fine but the magnetic encoder failed. Figured I better do this before the bad weather starts. Fixed a side skirt rattle while it was in the air. Best beater ever.
