All the tire shops have huge backlogs, even for loose wheels and tires, so I hand mounted the winters I grabbed on my old set of stock rims and tossed them on the car. No pics cause the scrawny stockers look terrible lol. I also got the trunk loaded up so the car is good to go for Coast to Coast on the weekend. I kinda wish I had a newer car to use for these things so I wouldn't feel the need to pack so many spare parts and tools but that's part of the adventure.

Replaced the driver side ballast in my summer beater. Was contemplating of switching it LED but it requires more work and wiring so I took the easy way and just bought a ballast. Most of the time was spent figuring out how to get the bulb connector out of the headlights.

Better than yours?

I love how a Lexus luxobarge with a V8 is a "summer beater." Only on Revscene.

One of the TPMS on my front driver side wheel finally died. Went to get a new one at Toyota and replaced by the tire shop I go to. I suspect the other three will go out soon. RIP.

Anyone here have experience with aftermarket or OE TPMS? Interwebz say they don't last as long as original. Even Costco tire guy said to get original from Toyota.

Last but not least, I finally picked up a tube of Honda's famous Shinetsu grease and used it on the Boxster hardtop to refresh the seals. Time will tell if this lives up to its legendary powers. This process brought back a lot of good memories of me and 68style rubbing the GM-equivalent onto my old MK1 AW11 MR2 t-tops.

Yah it’s way better than mine because that old school v8 has almost no known issues. I think the only thing is the starter is in the valley of the V which is a bitch to replace. Otherwise it’s flawless.

The 2urgse (the performance version) could…. Depending on if it’s the same crap as the non performance version… have a lot of very serious issues with their heads.

https://youtu.be/dfGTI0sWozc?si=cguDXa4uvA7qv_2U

The UR series of v8s can’t hold a god damn candle to the old UZ series.

Now I’m paranoid about the stupid Toyota pink coolant and I’ll need to change it every 2 years.

No. 2 fucking years. It’s almost time to take my LC in for a coolant change. Man fuck new Toyota products. It’s not the same as their old stuff. That pink shit becomes acidic and starts eating head gaskets

If you're doing oil changes yourself, you're probably capable of doing your own coolant change. Most service is just drain and fill. You can do it twice with a day of driving in between to get more of the coolant that doesn't drain out the first round.

ive never done a coolant job before, ill research it. I don't think its too expensive from the dealer, maybe 150 bucks? seems much better deal than their 300 dollar oil changes.

The hardest part of a coolant exch is the bleeding of the air
Some models are super easy
Some have certain nuances
Some have bleeder plugs and some the highest spot is simply the coolant pressure cap
A good tool for a DIY coolant exch is the funnel that you can attach to where the cap goes (whether it’s at the rad or a pressurized reservoir)
If you wanna to hardcore, can use a vacuum exchanger haha

I HAVE blown a rad cap 20 feet into the air because i wasn’t able to bleed a car properly haha

I went and got the M3 raised. I've had enough of the low life. I'll miss how good it looks though.

I had to raise it cause it scrapes outside my daughter's daycare. It's not even a speed bump, it's just how terrible the roads are.

All that, and it's been 2 years since my alignment. My experience with this car is the rear toe doesn't hold for some reason.

Are there aftermarket solutions that will hold the rear toe? I'm confident there are.

I miss BMW ownership. So many parts and options available. Stupid Porsche!

(Someone quote me on this when I get another BMW.)

I haven't really looked into it. The first time I went and got it aligned, it was cause the car was driving funny and the toe was wrong.

The left toe was wrong this time as well. So over the 6 years of ownership of this car, I've gotten the car aligned 3 times, and all three times the rear toe was wrong.

I've not seen it being called out as an issue on any medium. I do also track it once a year so I just chalk it up to hard use and things shift.

The FK8 (from factory and normal street driving) also has a weird toe thing as well, however this is very well known that it'll just loosen up overtime and create wear.

Mission and VIMC is pretty well known to disrupt alignment. VIMC moreso than Mission, but I know you haven't been anywhere but Mission this year LOL.
