It's always fun when all the parts you've been putting aside, come together.

is your car an m3? i believe the tws 10w-60 are for M engines only correct?

and i have e92 328i (n52). I've been using Mobil 1 0w-40 (LL-01 certified)

Energy 12-03-2012 11:25 PM

^ Yep that oil is only for M cars. I don't think that's what you're looking for.

normally BMW recommended their own 5w-30 high performance oil. You need a 5w-30 or 5w-40 synthetic oil in that car. Your current M1 0w-40 is a fine oil for that car. On my dads N52 motor I run Lubro Moly 5w-40 engine oil. I use this on all my European cars and am pleased. I have also cut the 25,000km oil change intervals by BMW to around 8,000km.

xjc11 12-04-2012 02:10 PM

i use 0w-40 on my e46 m54, changed every 10k kms. did 2 oil changes now since i got it. been running fine since:fullofwin:

Stiig 12-04-2012 08:19 PM

^ used to own e46, and i ran 0w-40 for 100k kms with no problems. also 10k between oil changes

skylinergtr 12-06-2012 08:49 AM

what started off only replacing a hub bearing assembly on my ford exploder ended up being a full service:

-front hub bearing assembly
-front brake rotors & pads
-transfer case flush
-power steering flush
-rear differential flush
-brake flush

next week i might service the transmission. Gotta get it ready for winter :)

So people who own or owned BMWs know that the instrument cluster at night is basically orange so I coded my 750i cluster to be the same cluster you see during the day, this is not my picture but this is what my cluster looks like at night instead of the god awful orange;

Akinari 12-07-2012 08:21 PM

That's a nice feature on the new BMWs  though apparently that orange is easy on the eyes since airplanes also use that colour.

Energy 12-07-2012 08:31 PM

I love the amber. It's classic BMW and its the color that least affects your night vision unlike white and that's why they chose that.

That white is nice too though.

tofu1413 12-07-2012 09:19 PM

rx8's have a switch to switch between day and night mode! wish they have that on every car..

Harvey Specter 12-08-2012 02:41 AM

You guys are right about been easier on the eyes but I find that daytime cluster is much more crisper especially at night, I'm going to drive around with it and see how I like it. It's basically a 5 minute job to code it back but it would be nice to have a switch to go between the day and night cluster.
