Almost finished welding up the flanges to attach the quarter panel to when it's time.

Also inspected the hatch that we bought yesterday, rare piece of hardware.

Here is how the vents work.

Air that is rushing over the hatch enters from the vents under the window, it's sent into ducting that exits through the holes at the bottom of the hatch. What it does is create negative air pressure to suck humid air out of the cabin (green highlighted slot), as humidity is what caused a lot of rust in these cars (240z's).

Changed oil and replaced spark plugs.

What year? Any 240Z after 1970 has vented quarter panels, it's what Datsun changed to when they realised that it would be cheaper than a hatch setup. The vents are under the emblems on the quarter panels, take the emblems off and reach into the hole in the quarter panel, it goes up into a chamber. That chamber is the replacement for the hatch, air rushing by the quarter panel sucks cabin air out.

mine was a 72'. yes it was under the round Z insignia.. although it was clogged with crap when i checked it... i think the method with vents on the hatch was more effective...

Nice, that's kind of what I'm aiming at doing with this one body wise. We might also be sticking an L28 in, you just can't bore L24's as much as the L28's, thinner walls. I'd love a 3.0 or 3.1 stroker.

put on a new cat, took her thru aircare only failed NOx this time. Cleaning my EGR tomorrow and I think a weld popped on the piping so going to pull her off and inspect tomorrow as well.

Yeah I wasn't too sure about unplugging an injector but I'm gonna try it tommorow (I always thought that it was for idle tests only but I'm told it works for IM240 as well). Also, my timing is retarded 2 degrees from base timing already.

AVS_Racing 01-09-2013 10:22 PM

first time stripping out a door and fat matted it, everything went better than expected :notbad:

Acura604 01-10-2013 11:30 AM

so.... looks like a few dry days ahead of us ... who will be washing their car(s) in the freezing temps this weekend?

the only crappy thing about these wintry dry days is the frost that melts on the road during the mornings gets all spit up on the car as you drive....so whats the point?!

Vulgate 01-10-2013 01:56 PM

I washed my car last night just before sun down. The body was washed properly but unfortunately the wheels weren't as I couldn't see the brake dust.

mb_ 01-10-2013 03:49 PM

Lifted car up at school today since we had a bit of free time and inspected clunking noise. Need new stabilizer bar end links :okay:
