Green Stuff..

Just painted the rear calipers, now waiting for it to dry so I can install the rotors/pads.

AVS_Racing 02-13-2013 05:15 PM

^^ what did you use to paint? any pics? I'm deciding between spray type or the brush on G2

DiiCii 02-13-2013 05:20 PM

Brush on isn't bad. It is time consuming though. I used duplicolor from Canadian tire and clear coated it afterwards! Looks nice and I can see if I can find a pic of mine

AVS_Racing:

Check out my build thread... There are pics on page 68 of this thread, and in my build thread. Since the color i wanted did not come in caliper paint I used Duplicolor Engine Enamel. The rears are looking a lot better than the fronts it seems so far.

Where did you buy the g2 kit? I was going to buy a dupli caliper color kit at CT, but I heard it chips or wears a lot quicker than the G2 paint.

Monster J 02-13-2013 09:12 PM

not today, but something in progress over a month

So yeah, maybe I didn't do EVERYTHING myself here but I did haul the engine out myself (with help from a few friends) before I turn it to the machine shop

Not my cars but:

Diagnostic and plugs on buddys Mazda6 (fuck, iridiums are spendy) (thx, Al)

Half of nabs rear brakes. One bolt was a bit rounded so he brought it over. I did one side and learned him how to do the other.

nabs 02-13-2013 10:35 PM

As IceBoy said... got the rear pads and rotors on today with his help, also painted the rear calipers today. pics soon.. im tired.

got it off a buddy who got it from CT.

nabs 02-14-2013 02:25 PM

prep is the key though. anything can look bad if its not prepped properly.

AVS_Racing 02-14-2013 08:12 PM

^^ I've never used the brush on kind, I'm worried that it will turn out uneven, visible paint strokes or blotchy?

cuz the colour that I want from the VHT spray can is not exactly what I'm looking for.

Nvasion 02-14-2013 11:21 PM

i think the paint self levels. just dont blob it on and itll be fine.

Did the same thing to my old del sol before, definitely makes it a bit more fresh!

Santofu 02-14-2013 11:39 PM

^ Sadly I can't do that on my civic, otherwise the fuses will burn out.
While I was driving, the led lights were dead for like 1 minute in the dark, so I couldn't see the speedometer until it came back on but started flicking for a bit then back on. :fulloffuck:

Friend did it for me, very very too much nice guy! Had to take a lot of verbal abuse from him during the process but it was worth it.

Out with the old and boring. In with the new and fun!
