Its not your responsibility to prove your innocence. It is the polices job to prove your guilt though. |

"You-tube" motorcycle seized Quote:

You Tube motorcycle seized, but no charges against driver April 19th, 2012 Saanich Police have seized a motorcycle seen in a You Tube video blasting down the Trans Canada Highway at nearly 300 km/h. The video is shot from a motorcyclist’s perspective as he weaves through rush hour traffic in Saanich. Now, that bike – a blue Yamaha R1 – is in police possession. Police think the incident took place on April 6. Shortly after that, a public tip identified the bike and its location in the 800 block of Admirals Road, Esquimalt. Officers found and photographed the bike. They then forensically matched it to the bike in the You Tube video by comparing scratches and other marks. Police may have the bike. But, charging the rider is a different story. "The registered owner of this particular bike is the mother of the person that we believe, allegedly, was driving," says Sergeant Dean Jantzen. "Unfortunately, at this point we are unable to meet the burden to proceed with criminal code charges. However, we have relied upon specific provisions in the motor vehicle act to take action against the registered owner of this vehicle." Sergeant Jantzen says, even though the owner wasn't driving, she is ultimately responsible and faces the following penalties: •A violation ticket, charged with driving without due care and attention - $368 penalty. •Excessive speeding - $483 penalty. •No insurance - $598 penalty. •That totals $1,449 in penalties. Police are also looking to impound the vehicle and possibly seizing in permanently using civil forfeiture procedures. Police suspect the rider in the video is a 25 year old local man with only a class 8 license, which requires supervision. That driver has 27 driving infractions to his name and 5 previous license suspension. But, at this time, the alleged speeder does not face any criminal charges. This is nothing new, and has been going on since the first hot rodder met up with his buddy with a video camera probably way back in the 70's. |
Video has gone international. Someone form the U.K. posted it on another forum I'm on. |
I hope this guy gets off. I mean I know what he did was terrible but sometimes you gotta root for the bad guy! PS I showed this to some of my friends in Austria, they love our highways. |

Not trolling, and I have no experience with motorcycles. Apart from balls, does it require a lot of skill to ride like that? |
Hard to say... it's not like he's scraping his knees in the corners or anything; he slows down like a pussy on the curves. You'd need pretty quick reflexes, but on the whole, it's more balls than brains. |
you just got to react fast to situations. i was hoping to see it end like this |
I was driving out to Langford today on that highway, and I had to laugh at the message on the highway information sign. It read "Share the road with motorcycles". |
"Powered by Mom" :ahwow: |
I remember reading in The Province yesterday saying at that speed, if he hit a car, he could've possibly cut through it. If true, what he did really was selfish and wreckless to others. |

There's a huge difference in risk and potential disaster between just going fast, and weaving arount/through traffic. I'm not going to say that in my years of driving I've always been a saint, but I always drew the line at weaving through traffic & rat racing. It really pisses me off that his Mother is not cooperating with the police and taking the fall. She must really love her kid. If my kid did that, I'd give him up in an instant, it would teach him a good hard lesson. |

just balls, if you wanna see balls + skills check out isle of man TT. |
I know that this incident happened on the Island, but it is sort of another example on why people need an outlet (Racetrack) to take care of their speed needs. I am not saying just because a couple race tracks were built people would stop spending in public. More and more people are getting faster cars/bikes in the lower mainland (I assume also on the island) with no real race track to use and test the speed their cars are capable of. List of race tracks that I know of (that are close) Lower Mainland - NONE Fraser Valley - Mission, Aggasiz Island - Saratoga (Nanaimo, Western Speedway (Victoria) Mission the only one with a decent road course. Dream note* I always dream of some mountain circuit in the north shore mountains. The straight away being at sea level with the course climbing and descending the mountain side with trees over hanging the track in some parts. Maybe it has a tunnel at some point. Having F1, GT class, Bike races, hot lap events, drifting etc etc. You could also do it in a green, and economical way. You would need the government, public, and someone with a ALOT of cash to get it done though. Im in school to be a real estate developer so maybe one day I could make it happen. Don't hold you breathe though. |
