Given how his mom is covering up for him, it's probably a learned behaviour.

Police suspect the rider in the video is a 25 year old local man with only a class 8 license, which requires supervision. That driver has 27 driving infractions to his name and 5 previous license suspension. But, at this time, the alleged speeder does not face any criminal charges.
dang. and he still has a license.

Randy Scott, the man charged with dangerous driving in connection with a high-speed motorcycle ride documented on YouTube, has turned himself in.
Police have been searching for the driver of a Yamaha sport bike since early April, when a video camera mounted on the bike documented the rider weaving in and out of traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway at up to 299 km/h. Scott, 25, who was charged July 10, turned himself in to Kelowna police Tuesday just after 7 p.m.
Investigators decided “to turn up the heat,” Saanich Police Sgt. Dean Jantzen said Wednesday. Local police contacted family, friends and other community members to try to reach Scott. They also worked with police from the Lower Mainland and as far as Edmonton, where Scott had an address on record, Jantzen said.
“We could not have gotten where we are today without the tips we received,” he said. “We were at a loss to be able to charge the driver when we were first public about this and we’re in a much better place today, solely based on tips that have come to us from the public.”
Scott was scheduled to appear at a bail hearing in Kelowna this morning.
“Hopefully this is the beginning of the end to this particular incident,” said Jantzen.
The blue 2006 Yahama valued at $8,000, which police says belongs to Scott’s mother, is in provincial government custody. In April, she was issued $1,449 in traffic tickets in connection with the incident.

Speeding motorcycle caught on YouTube sold at auction
The bike was sold last week for $4,651.76
Jesse Johnston Aug 22, 2012 16:23:02 PM
VICTORIA (NEWS1130) - If you wanted to, you could have bought the motorcycle that was traveling 299kph on Vancouver Island for less than $5,000.
A video of the bike weaving through traffic while the speedometer hovered around 300kph was posted on YouTube and has now been seen by more than 1.5 million people.
Saanich police seized the bike earlier this year and the BC government put it up for auction.
It sold last week to someone using the handle 4x4albert for $4,651.76.
The buyer might have a little trouble getting the 2006 Yamaha R1 started, though.
The BC Auction website says it's missing an important piece.
"Please note that there is no ignition chip key included with this motorcycle so the bike will not start and the onboard computer will not work without this key," the website says.
Randy Scott, 25, has been charged with dangerous driving. Scott turned himself in to police in Kelowna last month.
He will be appearing in provincial court in Victoria in October.

not without that key.. the computer and the key will probably have to be replaced. and if it's anything less than 1000 i'd be surprised.
