Day Z mod for arma 2. (Zombie mod)

Anyone try this? I've downloaded it played it for 20 mins this morning before work. It's a zombie mod where you have to go around collecting supplies, guns ammo ect... to survive. Once you die you're dead and have to start all over.

You play on servers with others, you can work together to clear and loot towns and defend yourself from other players. You can player kill anyone if you choose to go that route. You log out your character is safe, log back in and you're back in the action.

Too slow paced for me. Looks fun if you have the patience though.

arma II + expansion pack is 1/2 off right now...$15 on amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003UV8RRE?t=slicinc-20&tag=slicinc-20
unfortunately (fortunately?) it's not activated through steam but it's the cheapest way to try out day z right now.

you need an american address but only as a billing address...you receive the game as a download for an installer file. Don't choose a WA address if you dont wanna pay taxes haha

get it so we can get a RS group going haha

tons of other games for cheap..most of which can be activated through steam.

Ugh, I'm doing my best to not spend the money I already don't have to buy it.... If I do, who's in for RS zombie squads?

I know you can download ArmA II: CO online, but it doesn't allow the multiplayer, besides LAN, or mod use :/ I hate being poor

Friend of mine couldn't convince me to buy it, so he bought it for me

It's an interesting mod. Lots of walking on foot, and the map is HUGE. Lots of bugs and whatnot (random zombie spawns in front of you when you're in towns, zombies hitting through walls, delayed reactions from zombies when you shoot them, etc.), and night time is extremely difficult if you start out with a fresh spawn. I didn't expect too much, considering that the mod is in alpha.

Tons of sneaking around zombies, and then freaking the fuck out when they swarm you after hearing a gun shot. Maps are somewhat useless when you find them, as they don't pinpoint your location. You just have to remember where you have spawned (They tell you what region you're in when you start out). Other than sneaking around and looting, there isn't much else to the game.

DayZ map:
Spoiler!

didn't get around to play it yet

how's the vehicle play? Do you need to find gas since you need to eat and stuff?
can you swim/take a boat to the remote islands?
i see an airfield...any chance of flying a chopper/plane?
are there any wild animals? hunting?

I've been watching some videos about the game and just general gameplay ones, so far I've found out:

-You find car parts (Tires, gas tank, engine, etc) and piece together wrecked cars. You can also find ATVs
-I haven't seen anything about swimming/boats yet (I wondered about the island right away too)
-I've seen screenshots of people with a helicopter, whether it was non DayZ mod or not, I'm unsure
There's wild animals like goats, pigs etc. You can shoot them and then carve them for meat to cook and eat (If you have a knife).
-You can perform blood transfusions, but you need to have a second person do so for you

I know the game looks slow, with the scavenging and just walking around, but that's kind of why I like it. I want to get away from the constant running and shooting of most FPS these days.

I'd be down for making squads. I just have to get money, a mouse, and make sure my laptop can handle it.

i picked up the steam version for 29.99 and gave this a go.

So far I enjoy it. It's nice the fact that there is constant updates to the game released frequently. Simply just download the rar files, extract to Dayz folder and done.

Tons of servers available!

I've run into lots of people online. Some are friendly some aren't obviously. If a person comes up to you and gives you a salute (key \ on keyboard) that means they're friendly. You can then give the salute back to signify the same. Of course, you don't know if this is just for show, they might shoot you in the head after and take your stuff. Anybody who I ran into giving this signal hasn't killed me yet.

During night time I was out of ammo and saw a red flare out in the distance, so I decided to run full speed to it. There were two guys there and I just stood behind them while they covered me looking for ammo and exploring. So there is a lot of interaction with humans. When you first spawn you usually spawn near the coast, so your bound to run into the some players here and there. I haven't made my way more towards the middle or top of the map, I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

I also set the direct chat function on my mouse to allow talking on the mic. Only players near your proximity can hear you. Another thing if you hate the blur affect like I did when your moving, turn off post processing effects...I couldn't stand it!

Tos'd, there is dozens and dozens of servers. The max is 50 people per server, a lot of them are always full. You're able to find servers easily. It's gaining popularity every day obviously.

Played about 12 hours so far. Stalked a party of 4 into a barn, they randomly started shooting each other so I waited at a distance and sniped the last guy alive lol.

If anyone wants to group up shoot me a PM
